New Scouts

Both are describe as "pro scouts."

Roy Smith was vice president of scouting and player development for the Dodgers under Paul DePodesta. He pitched eight years in the majors, rocking the mullet in the defense of the honor of four different cities.

Jim D’Aloia on the other hand, never rose above A-ball, but did serve as the CEO of a medical school before being hired by J.P. Ricciardi.

I guess it almost looks as if Sandy gave each of his trusted former lieutenants one freebie to hire one former trusted lieutenant of their own.

The Chad MacDonald appointment is official. The Mets have also announced that Terry Collins' successor as minor league field coorrdinator will be Dick Scott, who held the same post with Houston last season after eight years with Toronto as director of player development. He was also the 1994 Minor League Manager of the Year (according to USA Today/Baseball Weekly), Arizona League Manager of the Year in 1991, Northwest League Manager of the Year in 1992, and California League Manager of the Year in 1994.

Those are also the positive attributes for a Boy Scout. Unfortunately, none of those things has anything to do with finding and evaluating baseball talent.
I'd like Sandy to hire a couple of those.
