Re: Happy Birthday Soupcan!

Thanks guys.

It was pretty low-key. My dad is in town from San Diego, so he and his wife came over for dinner

I have mentioned on the board here before that he plays golf with Roger Craig and he told me last night that he and Craig have become pretty good friends - golfing together quite a bit and now socializing as couples with their wives.

That just freaks me out. Who would've ever thought that my dad - who by the way isn't really a professional sporrts fan at all - has become tight with an original Met? Strange how life works.

Sidebar:

Dad told me that (he is pretty sure) Roger Craig has 6 World Series rings. If that's true, then 3 of them must be as a coach (he was on the '55 and '59 Dodgers that won and the '64 Cardinals), but I can't think of any teams he coached that wone a W.S. Is my pops wrong? How many rings should Craig have?

Re: Happy Birthday Soupcan!

He may be counting rings for World Series losing teams as well, such as Craig's 1989 Giants.

Pitching coach, Sparky Anderson's 1984 Tigers. That's four.

I don't know what that is Ceetar, but um...thanks.

Okay so if you count the '89 Gigantics that's 5. He was on the Dodgers when they lost in '56 to the Yanks so that could be it. 4 W.S. rings and 2 Pennants. That's probably it. Thanks.

Happy Birthday.
As your wife has probably said many times, don't spend all day in the can.
