Stats databases

I'm tired of digging for these things when I want them, but have no idea where or if they're recorded.

So what databases do you guys use? I found one that looked slightly outdated, but ultimately I'd like to be able to download the data, and throw SQL statements at it. or at least some sort of query.

Ultimately free would be nice, but I'd certainly be willing to pay a bit for that sort of data, particularly if i could get it mostly current. This kinda access has to be out there somewhere right? That's the whole point of the 'sabermetric rebellion?'

yeah, something like that. but that's only through 2009, it'd be nice to have the 2010 data.

What's not on baseball-reference.com that you're looking for?

Or, say, Fangraphs? (Baseball Cube's good for minors/college/winter league all in one place.)

They update it every year. Should be a new one out soon.

Re: Stats databases

Why is that better than the raw data supplied by retrosheet?
(which is available now)

I think that's what I'm looking for, thanks.

you know, I just want to ask a lot of zany questions that I can't think of right now, but isn't usually listed anywhere obvious.
