From the NY Times:

Huff Is Staying With the Giants

For a second I thought I was back in 1963. He's not going to the Redskins?

Re: Headline flashback

For a few years in the early 2000s, I'd see headlines in the News or Post involving "Al" and believe it was a story about Al Gore when it fact it was Al Sharpton...and vice-versa. Always seemed to guess wrong. Once in while I'd instinctively think it was Al D'Amato though he'd been off the stage for a while.

I'd also have to remind myself Al Leiter probably didn't rate coverage in the main section of the paper.

Re: Headline flashback

Y'know, for years the tabs referred to D'Amato as "the Fonz" and I assumed it had something to do with some sense of "cool" that I was completely missing out on but that fawning editors and headline writers insisted he possessed. Then Edgardo Alfonzo comes to the big leagues, is called essentially the same thing and I got it instantly -- for the ballplayer. It wasn't until years later that I found myself staring at Alfonse D'Amato's name and it all hit me at once: Fonz...Alfonzo...Alfonse D'Amato.

Glacial I can be sometimes.
