2011 Resolutions

Any resolutions of note for the coming year?

I plan on running 1000 miles and biking 1500 miles in 2011. They are lofty goals, but I'm going to give it my best.

Re: 2011 Resolutions

I'm going to relose the weight I lost early this year and neglected in the last quarter, plus another 15lbs.

Attempt to be less lazy in working on my website and just generally writing more.

Maybe take a step in figuring out where I want my job/career/makingalivingness to go. (or win the Lotto anyway)

Re: 2011 Resolutions

Trying to come up with 11 running resolutions for 2011... here's what I have so far:

1. Run 11 5k's.
2. Run a 10k.
3. Run a 15k.
4. Run a half-marathon.
5. Beat my best 5k time of 22:44.
6. Run a race with a fellow CPF'er.
7. Run at least one race outside of NY State.
8. Track my mileage ran and top 500 miles for 2011.

This would imply a lot of trips to the gym (at least, I hope. Every other interpretation of this is disturbing beyond words).

Unless I saw the eleven-cocked man at the circus. That guy's worth the extra $1...

Re: 2011 Resolutions

1a) Learn more about photography;

1b) Participate in the 365 Pictures in 365 Days project;

2) Complete my Rosetta Stone French course; and

3) Drop 4-5 pounds. I'm about two pounds above goal weight as of this morning; I'd like to get back below goal weight so I have a little wiggle room to work with.

Re: 2011 Resolutions

I'll steal some

1) Run 1,000 miles.
2) Drop 25.
3) Finish two recording projects.
4) See Reggie Jackson indicted for the murder of Leslie Neilsen.

Re: 2011 Resolutions

my overarching resolution, aside from the general be a better, nicer, more organized person stuff is to not sabotage my efforts at qualifying for the boston marathon.

this entails losing weight, sleeping more, eating better, snacking less, exercising more. all that good stuff.

Re: 2011 Resolutions

Finished my list of 2011 resolutions. I realized I was being too conservative and added a couple of more challenging items.

1. Run 11 5k's.
2. Run a 10k.
3. Run a 15k.
4. Run a half-marathon.
5. Beat my best 5k time of 22:44.
6. Run a race with a fellow CPF'er.
7. Run at least one race outside of NY State.
8. Track my mileage ran and top 500 miles for 2011.
9. Lose that last 3 lbs, get to 150 and stay there.
10. Run a 10 mile race.
11. Run all six events of the Syrathon and get the medal they give out.

I would pay for that.

Actually, I would pay for that if it included behind-the-scenes footage and/or transcript.

I'm going with:

1) Get back within ten pounds of my HS "playing weight" by year's end (which means I've got 70 lbs. to drop).

2) Rid my speech of all fucking obscenity (well, at least the four-letter variety).

3) Improve my Spanish at least to the point where my daughter isn't lapping me in fluency by year's end.

Not to pee on anyone's resolve here but that's an awfully big goal, and easy to miss with even a minor injury, a biz deadline or routine illness during the course of the year. I felt like I ran a lot this year but between vacations, busy periods of work, Mets games, illnesses, injury etc it all added up to something like 650.

My resolution in 2011 is to kind of step up into and embody the general simplification program I'd unwittingly begun in 2010 when I ransacked my closet and rid myself of piles of clothes I never wore or didn't fit. I'd like to further uncomplicate things in my life, whether that means parting with some possessions or sticking to a schedule better etc etc etc. Also to talk to you clowns less on the Internet and more when possible in real life.

Re: 2011 Resolutions

Thanks for the advice. I'm happy to not reach it. But I need a target to tick off numbers from. If it takes me 20-25 months, that's OK.

Business deadlines kill me. I fall off the cola wagon, drop out of exercise routines, and transform into the monster known as Mr. Crankypants.

So let's make it 11.
1) Run 1,000 miles.
2) Drop 25.
3) Finish two recording projects.
4) Visit my mother (and NYC) more.
5) Submit a paper or session proposal or something to the Mets conference.
6) If I can't be a father, be a better uncle.
7) Get out.
8) Sing.
9) Dance.
10) Write.
11) Haunt CitiField like the ghost of Steve Rogers.

Re: 2011 Resolutions

How is everyone doing on their resolutions? One of the paralegals here happened to hit Starbucks at just the right time and was given all of this morning's leftover doughnuts, cakes and cupcakes. It's like they're intentionally trying to undermine my resolutions.

Mine are:

1. More focused at work (less goofing off on the internet)
2. Work out regularly
3. Salads for lunch
4. Drink less (both drink less frequently, and drink less when I drink)
5. Continue to quit smoking
6. Visit Doctor
7. Visit Dentist
8. Refi mortgage
9. Get bike, ride it

I'm not doing particuarly well on this year's resolutions, but I'm within a month or so of fulfilling last year's resolution of paying off all credit card debt.

Re: 2011 Resolutions

Doing ok so far -

I haven't missed a day with my 365 Pictures in 365 Days project, and I'm signed up for an intro photography course at my local community college in the spring.

I'm halfway through my Rosetta Stone French course. I should be substantially done with that by the start of the baseball season.

I'm right around my goal weight. I had been a little above that recently, so being right at goal is positive. I hope to be two or three pounds below that eventually, but I'm basically where I should be, weight-wise.
