At the moment, Sydney & NSW are +19 hours ahead of me in CA. The clock struck midnight 1/1/2k11 for them at my 5am this morn.

I'll remember what year it is by thinking "HoJo-Teufel". Or maybe "Agee-Garrett".

Re: Happy New Year, CPF

Had a rare prime pan-cooked porterhouse with homemade balsamic-and-shallot steak sauce with garlic mash-of-the-gods and a New Zealand pinot noir (on which we got lucky) last night for dinner, chased with a storebought ganache and kickass prosecco. (YoungerPooper had her first tiny bite of steak off of our plate... and it's kind of all downhill from here.) I'll be thinking of it while I eat other meals for decades.

Then our neighbors' family party had the cops called on it twice-- to "mediate" disputes-- without anyone going away in cuffs. So... happy new year, too, common-laws!

Anyone have a more adventurous night?

Ours was quite tame... a family style 'indoor picnic,' we had a cheese and summer sausage gift set that we had for dinner, along with crackers and some dips, spread out on the floor of our family room.

Watched movies with the kids and put them to bed, and shared a bottle of bubbly with the wife while we watched [crossout:1dok1dpl]"New Years' Eve at Bernie's"[/crossout:1dok1dpl] Dick Clark and a bunch of hacks on network 'ring in the New Year' specials.
