17. Mega Blocks by twenny6point2, on Flickr

it's kinda fun building abstract jumbles of mega blocks. and minimm lends his talents every so often, too. really, though, i can't wait for his lego birthday when, at 18 months of age, he is officially authorized to begin playing with lego products.

I'm participating in the 365 Photos in 365 Days project. Most of my shots so far have been uninspired at best. But today I went out and took a picture that I had been meaning to shoot for well over a year. I'm happy with how it turned out.

I expect to go through a large learning curve with this projects. Pictures that I'll post now will be unacceptable by the year's end. But I'm hoping to have fun with the project, and to find my photographer's eye in the process.

20 days in, and there's yet to be a shot i had tried to plan that worked out. most of them have been me scrambling around at 11 at night wondering what i have that's remotely interesting. i saw a nice sunset yesterday as i was running out to get a tank of gas, and was kicking myself for not having a camera on me.

we've got a similar clock down by the lake. i should head down there someday soon and shoot it. see if i can get anything interesting in the background.

I know what you mean about gloves. I tried shooting with gloves last month during my failed attempt to capture the Sunrise Manhattanhenge (it didn't work - it was too cloudy. In theory tomorrow would be another day when the sun would rise along the east-west grid, but I'm not about to venture in tomorrow to find out), and it just wasn't possible.

minimm's favorite ride in all of walt disney world was, by far, the escalators in our hotel, the contemporary. i must've ridden them with him holding my hands some thirty times or more. he'd get up to the start of the steps and turn around reaching up. only once he had a good hold of me would he step forward. for the most part, he even got the trick of getting ready to walk at the end.

he also liked the tomorrowland transit authority, and the carousel. i think he enjoyed the winnie the pooh ride and it's a small world. over in epcot, he got to journey into imagination with figment, and explored the seas looking for nemo. it was hilarious, actually, as he clapped when we 'found' nemo at the end of the ride.

i tried to get a bunch of shots of the fireworks over the magic kingdom. i'll have to post a few of the better ones. i was always rushed for time as bedtime conflicted with fireworks time, so as soon as minimm was ready for bed, i'd scoot out of our room and head to the nearest location that i thought would lead to good photos. two out of three times, my location of choice didn't really work out. those times, i also had left behind some key piece of equipment... but i'll post those later. i've got over 1600 photos to go through from the trip, and it was enough work picking out the daily shots.

my sister returned from her honeymoon in india with this colorful elephant, who is now perched atop the mantle in our living room. the lighting in the room is atrocious, since the wall sconce directly above it needs new bulbs, and the floor lamp has fallen victim to our childproofing efforts. i'm pressed against the wall behind the elephant, holding a flashlight in my left hand trying to illuminate just enough of his head and trunk. thank goodness for an f/1.8 aperture!

Day One: In an obscure parking lot right next to Space Mountain. I was hoping for a better shot from here, but at least it's fairly unique. While I had my tripod, I had neglected to grab the tripod adapter.

Day 2: Ah, the differences proper planning, setup, location, and equipment make. On the 6th floor stairwell balcony of the Contemporary, with tripod, tripod adapter, and remote control shutter release.

Day 3: Today, I forgot the remote. Also, i was hoping to get the Contemporary in the shot, but it was all wrong. I rushed instead to set up shooting under the monorail.

it's nice. they've got a viewing pavillion set up on the near side of the monorail tracks on the 4th floor, but i figured that would e crowded. originally i had planned on setting up on the bridge connecting the contemporary with the new bay lake tower (or whatever it's called) but you need to be a disney vacation club member to get on it. darned controlled access! instead, i noticed that the stairwells going up the end of the contemporary are open to the outside. i went up two or three flights just to get above the monorail. there was another guy set up with a tripod and i hurriedly set up nearby.

i didn't have too much time to fiddle around with the camera settings to dial in the appearances of space mountain or the castle, but i think this worked out well.

there are a few more angles around the contemporary that i'd like to give a try, or at least take a look at to see if htey have potential, but i dind't really have the opportunity. as it was, we were getting back to the room with just barely enough time for me to help get minimm ready for his bath and bed before dashing out hurriedly with camera and tripod in hand. the first night was actually the only time i was in place before the first mortar launch.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

yup. it's totally publicly accessible. as you come off the monorail onto the 4th floor, head towards the glass wall on the magic kingdom side of the contemporary. you'll pass by a few gift shops. there's a set of doors on either side that open up onto a balcony. under the monorail tracks is the set-up viewing area. opposite the tracks is the open stairwell.

note the pic below. each of those ledges along the end is open, and fully accessible. well, maybe not the top one - you probably get to pay extra for that.

OE: or do you mean the connecting bridge? that i don't know. i would guess that if you are a disney vacation club member who is not staying in the new bay lake towers, then you would still not be able to get onto the bridge. there's a key card access. but if you're in florida and visiting disney world, there's no reason you can't get out onto those stairwell balconies.

mmm... kona coffee...

i've got a backlog of boca java coffee's at home, but once they're all gone, i'm going to have to pop online and order up some kona joe's patented trellis-grown coffee.

heh. reminds me of our hawaii trip. we did the kona joe's plantation tour, and at the end they had some tastings of their brew. in addition to having the official coffee currently served at the white house, they also had a special barack obama blend, which contained kona, kenyan, and sumatran coffee. i remarked at the time, perhaps rather presciently, "goes down smooth, but has a bitter aftertaste."

Re: Cheese! 2011!

This actually was Kauai coffee. (Which is still amazingly good.)

Now for some Kona snobbery...

Hula Daddy may actually be the best coffee there. And as for the snobbery, when we went there (a much smaller place than Joe's) they were particularly snobby about never buying cherries from other places, like most of the coffee guys do because often they're just unloading the lesser quality cherries and you don't get as good coffee out of it.

She took us on a tour and we actually picked cherries, and tasted them, and she showed us the different colors of the cherries and how to pick and what the beans look like and the whole process. Was a bit snobby about the "genius" that blends the beans that they hired. The place was featured in a magazine about Kona coffee (which is why we went there, I'd read it on the flight from Kauai to Kona), and their coffee is actually rated better than the other places.

But hey, it all tastes great, and it's all really expensive. But I really enjoyed the Kauai stuff just as much, and it was a little more reasonably priced to order online and ship. (wife got me a coffee of the month club thingy from there. neat.) I'm also 99% positive I've seen some of the Kauai flavored stuff at Fairway every once in a while.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

i'm mostly happy with this shot. i was in a bit of a rush as i was on a run to cvs for some tasty drugs for mrs.mm's cold, plus it was freezing out. i'm annoyed that, while shooting in manual, from a tripod, i didn't think about bringing along a remote. i also didn't think to adjust the iso and shot at 1600. longer duration, lower iso would've gotten me a cleaner shot. sigh.

the lighting on the building was tricky, as there's some harsh sodium vapor lights in the area, but correcting them out too much would've probably made the sky all weird. i shot with the flash on in this pic, and managed not to jitter the camera too much during the exposure.

Forgot it was a full moon. Harder for me to take night shots well since I don't actually have an SLR and there are only so many actual adjustments I can make.

I actually like the second picture better though. I don't like how the moon glows in the first one, too much light around it. maybe taht's the sodium lights you mentioned.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

i do too. i thought i had a great shot until i got home.

on both shots i tried to diminish the effects of the lights by popping the flash. it helped more on the second shot as it was all in one plane. the first shot i caught too much of under the balcony, which is why i moved.

there were some low clouds moving in front of the moon, set against some higher clouds. the low clouds caused the blur. there was a brief window in the clouds in the second shot that started to close up just after.

i've got this guy, which i like because it doesn't scream that there's an expensive camera hiding in there. it might whisper that it wishes it belonged to a hipster, but i'm ok enough with that.

i had made the point to fish around in it for the tripod adapter. i should've just grabbed the whole damned thing.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

my cell phone has a terrible camera built into it. it's just awful.

and yet, todays photo uses just that terrible little implement. you see, when we got home today, minimm went straight for the dvd hidey-hole. its a vast cavern full of physical media, nestled in the built-in entertainment center below our basement stairs. of course, all of our cameras are upstairs. i ponder yelling up to mrs.mm to grab the nikon, but i figure that by the time she got back down, he'd be on to something else. instead, i reach into my pocket and pull out... my cell phone.

two whole megapixels of awesome. at least, i think they're megapixels. it just says "2.0 mega" next to the lens, so you can't be too sure.

i'm pretty sure the camera on my blackberry is better, and had it been remotely charged, i would've grabbed for that instead.

but i don't care all that much. i captured the moment i wanted. what's more, i also captured the very reason why i cannot wait to ditch my old phone for an iphone just as soon as i'm able. so that i will always have a halfway decent point and shoot at my beck and call. instead of this... this... this... whatever it is.

my cellphone cameras obviously not the best, but it's always handy (like above, at work, when I want to take random pictures of tarts)

So I was home today waiting for the town building inspector to stop by, and decided i'd take advantage of the cold, beautiful day and shoot some rare daylight shots. i got a few good ones, and thought i'd have a hard time picking a photo of the day:

..

i really like the way the first one came out, of the snow lining a branch on my cherry tree. the second one is a nice, almost abstract look to it, with the dogwood buds set against the super-blue sky, and the deer posed just as i had asked it to.

but then we got a call from day care. minimm was being sent home with both pink eye and an ear infection. after he got home, we had some lunch. then, getting tired, he reached for his blankie, asked for a nap, and solved my dilemma.

yet again, the kid swoops in and solves my daily shot problem.

after being set down in his crib for the night, at some point, he rolled, and ended up with his face nestled in against the crib rails. naturally, being the good parent that i am, i grabbed the camera and the tripod, turned on the hall light, and snapped off a long exposure shot. then we slid him over into a more comfortable position.

he shouldn't have a line on his nose by morning...

so i recently switched from oil heat to natural gas. got a fancy new gas-fired boiler to replace our fairly new but piggish oil jobber. we passed our final inspection on it today, so we're doing a bit of a happy dance. so far, we're very happy with it. and ever since we made the switch, i've been noticing my downhill neighbor's house, which clearly has an old oil boiler in the basement. or maybe its an old city bus. it's kindof hard to tell. but every time the damned thing fires up, it smells like half-burnt diesel, and not in a good way.

i don't think there is a good way for half-burnt diesel to smell, really.

so i need the trusted opinion of the gathered crowd. which of these two is the better pic? color, or black & white? i'm leaning towards the b&w, but there's something about the color that gets me too.

the setup is, well, the kid is sleeping, so i don't want to wake him with lights and such. so the light is on in the office adjacently across the hall. in his room, there's a humidifier emitting a soft blue glow from its power indicator. and to get enough light for a decent exposure, and also to see well enough to focus the camera, i've got an itouch running the flashlight app just at the head of the crib causing the sharper, more radial shadows. for the life of me, i can't decide if the varying color light sources add or detract from the shot.

what do y'all think? oh yeah, remote triggered, f/1.8, 30 sec exposure. it was pretty dark in there, and i'm glad he stayed still!

i tried a little bit after i took the shot. but i couldn't get anything i was terribly thrilled with.

i'm rarely happy with the results of my color correction. i almost always end up with something unnatural looking. and then the more i play around with it, the less natural it looks. basically, i suck at color correction, and i don't think paint shop rpo is all that good at helping me out. yeah, yeah, i need to get my ass on that photoshop bandwagon.

i've got a little lens cap thingy that's supposed to let me do an custom white balance at the drop of a hat, but it's always on another lens. when i do use it, i'm usually happy i bothered. i do wonder if it would've been able to make heads or tails of the mixed lighting last night...

Re: Cheese! 2011!

You could also change the white balance settings to the nef file in ViewNX. Depending on the light source, you might have better luck changing it to either incandescent or florescent.

I hope you don't mind, but I played with it a little in PS. I adjusted the levels to lighten it. always check your histogram - it is one of your best friends ;-) I also changed the curves a little, tweaking the red, blue and green...

Re: Cheese! 2011!

i think i need to stop drooling.

i'm trying to be good about not getting too far ahead of myself with photo equipment, seeing as how i just got the prime lens. but its so damned tempting.

eventually, i'm going to need help figuring out what the next most important piece of equipment i should have, and will happily solicit opinions and recommendations on the matter, but i'll probably hold off on making any purchases until i can get mrs.mm to get it for my birthday or some such. i expect the answer to the query to be a flash, but i'd like to know what the group-think is, too.

actually, my next piece of photo equipment might be an iphone, as we're thinking of getting a pair of 'em once our current verizon dumbphone contracts are up, but that's kindof a separate issue. well, i'll also accept compelling arguments for an android phone over the apple empire, but keeping to this thread, camera functionality is actually a key ingredient. no, you won't be seeing any hipstamatic shots or (probably not) fake tilt-shift, but it'd be nice to have a p&s that i always have with me, and our current arsenal is fairly bulky

Re: Cheese! 2011!

that's the 35mm lens. i shot super-late in the day, and used the daylight pre-set white balance because i'm not often happy with "shade" or "cloudy", with an ISO of 800. camera was in P mode, my default unless i'm actually spending time thinking about the shot like i probably should, with autofocus, and no exposure bias. the camera seems to have elected to shoot at f/2.5 for a 1/25 exposure. i applaud it's selections.

i took the shot without actually looking through the lens. it was late, and i wanted to get inside before minimm had to go to bed. i was at work way late, but had my camera with me. dusk was rapidly approaching, and i wasn't really sure what the heck i'd be able to shoot. so i pulled into the driveway, grabbed my camera, wandered to the end of the driveway, and leaned over by the tree, camera dangling down below me close to the ground. i figured i'd get the approximate composition that i ended up with, but i had no idea what i'd end up focusing on. i'm pleasantly surprised that the horizon line at the base of hte garage is both level and centered - i'd probably have screwed that up if i tried.

the shot is way bluer than it is in real life, but i kinda like the effect. it really speaks to the bleakness of the poor dejected christmas tree, waiting either for the town to realize that there was a fucking blizzard when everybody had their trees out for collection, and the one time they did come around without prior warning, half the trees people had left out were still entombed in our local glacier, or for me to stuff it into my car, be it whole or in pieces, and take it to the local yard waste depository.

i'm giving it another two weeks.

Ceetar - any news on what's shaking with your camera?

___________________________________________________

Meanwhile, I'm taking an Intro to Photography course at the local community college. I'm getting a little out of it, but also getting driven slightly crazy in the process. The teacher is a crazy cat lady, who doesn't run the class the way that I think it should be run.

Is it me, or shouldn't a photography teacher bring her own gear to class (she hasn't, in three classes - including one lab)? And if she doesn't bring her own gear, and asks to borrow her students' equipment, shouldn't she make an effort to handle it carefully (she never uses the neck strap, and is pretty casual with how she holds the cameras. I have told her no on a couple of occasions already when she has asked to borrow my SLR). I also think that she should make some kind of arrangements for computer access in the class to make photo sharing easier, but I realize in a community college that might be pushing things.

I just have to take deep breaths and remind myself that I am learning things, and try to just put up with the things I dislike for the remainder of this short course, which ends at the end of April. But I know that I'm not taking the intermediate course with this ditz; I'll look for other courses in the future.

I've been wanting to take a class at a community college, or elsewhere, in photography, i just haven't gotten around to picking one i like. that's the problem with "classes", putting a prerequisite on equipment is bullshit , next thing you know you "must have" this lens and that lens and a Manfrotto tripod and a 17' Mac with full photoshop.....

buy this book for less than $20

you can get some great Nikon kits for very reasonable prices

Nikon Kits

the D3100 and the D3000, the D5000 I think will not be made anymore, perhaps the D3000 too.....

my advice , discover for yourself the joy of having a DSLR first before going to a class, there are lots on online resources too.

I remember being at a friends wedding and another friend I knew was there with her Canon(her instructor told her to buy a Canon, it's what he used), she was trying to shoot in manual focus mode with a 50-200mm lens in low wedding light indoors......she couldn't get it to focus.......I ask her why she's doing that , my instructor told me to do it.....yeah right and miss all the shots that everyone else is getting with their P&S cameras......

irish - it's a community college class with a crazy cat lady instructor. It's a bullshit class, for sure. But I'm getting a few nuggets out of it here and there, so that's good.

and I've started re-reading Understanding Exposure. When I first read it the whole thing went over my head, but now it's making more sense to me. Thanks for the recommendation - it's a good resource. I also found Digital SLR for Dummies to be a nice book to have around -

And you're right - there's no substitute for playing around with the camera. I find there's a learning curve - you pick up some knowledge, then you apply it, then you can pick up more knowledge, etc. etc. Things that were said to me two and three years ago are just now beginning to click - it's a process.

Nikon has replaced the D3000 with the D3100.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

I'm not sure I'd be up for three or four days in the wild - LOL

Ceetar - another thing to do is go to a camera shop and just try out a few different cameras. If you can, plan a day and go to B&H - they are knowledgeable there, have a great selection, and stand behind their products (I cannot say enough good things about them). Try the Nikons and the Canons and whatever else look interesting to you. One of the beautiful things about digital is that you can test out the cameras in the store - see how they feel in your hand, see what seems more intuitive to you, etc.

One thing to keep in mind - whatever brand you decide upon is kind of like a marriage. Sure, you could switch from Brand A to Brand B down the line, but what are you going to do with your Brand A lenses (and, trust me on this, lenses are like potato chips - you will not stop at your kit lenses!) when you do? So think long term - don't buy a brand just because it's on sale one week unless you're reasonably sure you're going to stick with that brand down the line.

I've been a Nikon user since getting my first SLR. My wife gave me a Nikon FG as a graduation present when i graduated from optometry school. It served me faithfully for over 20 years and hundreds of rolls of film until its internal gears seized up on me one day. Replaced it with a Nikon N80 and since have purchased a second N80 body so I never have to mess with changing out lenses for photos. Re: Cheese! 2011!

so i had to go to tucson for work this past week, and brought along my camera to take pictures and keep up with my 365 project. naturally, i left it turned on while tucked away in my carry-on during the flight, and it never turned itself on. battery, drained. charger, home. fuck!

so i went out and picked up a two-pack of disposeable cameras from target.

i'm not thrilled with the results. not at all. most of it is my fault - at times i was trying to shoot closer than the poor thing can handle, and often in poor lighting conditions - but even when it could've done a decent job, it was just awful. i'm glad i wasn't trying to save any meaningful memories!

seriously, didn't these things used to be better? have my standards improved, or have they gotten worse? or maybe the CVS just did a shit job of developing them...

Re: Cheese! 2011!

I seem to remember getting better shots out of disposable cameras, even allowing for improved ability over the years. I think it's plausible that A) they don't make them as well these days, now that demand is down; and/or B) the cameras are sitting around much longer these days, and the film may not be so fresh by the time you purchase one.

Meanwhile, I'm getting better with using the manual settings on my P90 point-and-shoot. I like this shot of the candy I took this morning at the Rutgers Half Marathon's post-race spread -

Re: Cheese! 2011!

Not so much of a mistake. I made a quick stop there before heading to the finish line. I didn't take any cookies, but they didn't look that big or that spectacular. They had bagels there. I needed something, since I had been volunteering since 7 am, so I grabbed a Diet Pepsi and a banana and left the rest for the runners. It wasn't a bad spread, but nothing superlative - you were better off with Au Bon Pain.

yeah, i'd done the flashlight trick before, but last time it was with a crappier, dimmer light. the maglite was nice to work with, but it's still a bit of a challenge to work with the light pattern. i might need to do some tinkering to get something softer and more portable while maintaining maximum cheapness.

To be honest, as much as I love the States, and as much as it makes economic sense to visit this year, since i'll be moving there "more permanently" next year, I'm still on the fence.

But I miss the US like crazy. It's the little things. A couple of weeks ago I went to a grocery store that specializes in American foods and got into argument with a middle-aged woman over the last packet of slow-cooking grits. It was like a scene from Communist Russia.

I actually captioned the photo, "Got Popcorn?"

I think this may have been my first foray to the Promenade this year - my 5-game plan was on the Excelsior Level.

Where do you hang near the RF scoreboard? Is that just behind the Pepsi Porch seating? Or on the other side of the bridge from there?

Ceetar
Aug 12 2011 07:38 AM
Re: Cheese! 2011!

the other side of the bridge. It's the Excelsior level right outside the door to the inside part. Literally right on top of the scoreboard/video board there. It's sort of reminiscint of the view from the Subway platform of Shea. I used to like the walkway to the Pepsi Porch as that, it was actually kind of cool and I almost wish they'd make official note of it, but when they put the scoreboard in it blocked most of the view from there unfortunately.

This is the one where I'm an idiot. It's something I probably should have realized. but I didn't. I had the macro setting on with auto, and then I continued on to take some regular shots and they all came out grainy. Also, because I was trying to conserve battery, i didn't use the flash early on while it was still light out, forgetting that while I can see, soemtimes the camera can't. (and the flash can be a pain to wait to charge) I also think my camera doesn't have the shutterspeed necessary to capture frollicing 5 year olds.

I think this is where I started to go wrong. (and the shot didn't even come out well.)

Not that I didn't get some quality shots, but I really need to step it up and invest in the SLR. (and learn more)

of course, sometimes it's just cause the subject is awesome.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

i'm finally getting around to uploading some of my photos to flickr. i'd generated a 4 month back log.

i'd recently gone to cincinnati, stayed just across the river from downtown, where there's a nice riverwalk, and some photogenic bridges. one night i went out to take some photos.

maybe i should have used a tripod...

20110914-25701 by twenny6point2, on Flickr

just as soon as i depressed the shutter on a long exposure, i realized that i had not put the camera on delay timer. my hand slipped immediately, and jiggled the camera. with 30 seconds to burn, i started pointing it at some nearby light sources. i'm happy with the irrepeatable result.

this is hte bridge i was shooting, albeit from a different vantage. i never did get that shot to work.

20110914-25713 by twenny6point2, on Flickr

in lieu of a tripod, i've got the camera placed atop a short concrete post, with my iphone supporting the lens and my hand pressing down in a frequently futile attempt to lock it steady.

metsmarathon

Re: Cheese! 2011!

the bridge was shot at ISO 100, with f/4.5 @ 30 seconds.

i was standing there holding my camera down onto that concrete piling for a damned while.

high ISO and a wide open aperture let you get away with holding the camera, if you're really really really steady.

if you can keep the camera dead still, and you have a subject that isn't going anywhere, low ISO is the way to go, as it'll minimize noise. it'll also lead to longer and longer exposures. and if you want twinkling lights, you tighten up the aperture, which will also lengthen your exposure. so says he guy who pretends to know what he's doing.

i always look to the exif data on pictures that i really like - such as that dgw fella's - and note the general idea.

Nighttime photography is something I think I fail at most, but it's the pictures I enjoy looking at the most. I think once I get a 'real' camera could help..I don't think I can set ISO manually on mine.

Like this picture, which I kind of like just wish it was crisper (granted ,it was on a boat) but their was enough light that it doesn't really matter that it's at night.

practice helps. I'm still using a point and shoot, and shutter speed is one of those things that it doesn't do that well. If I flip it to sports mode, it helps some, but really fast things, like Jose Reyes, are sometimes hard to get a good clean shot of. Especially from father away.

Thanks Irish. Yes - every year, Stamford has their Thanksgiving Parade on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Going to see the balloons being blown up Wednesday night, but I doubt I'll get as close, or as good a shot.

This is a meta kind of shot. The photo of the marching band hat on the cake was taken from a picture that I took at last year's dinner.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

i finally got caught up on uploading a bunch of photos to flickr.

i still need to go through my backlog of entirely too many snaps and make sure i've captured all the good ones, and start making some digital room.

in ironic commemoration of my efforts, i offer up the following:

Lightning Fast by twenny6point2, on Flickr

sometimes, when i'm struggling at the end of the day to meet my photo per day requirement, i end up with a shot i'm really happy with. i also end up with less sleep than i would prefer, no matter how relatively quickly i happen upon my shot.

it took a while to get the timing right, to get a smooth motion, and to not capture the pen i was pushing the car with. i'm pretty jazzed with the accidental framing on the rear wheel.

in other news, i simply struggle with the notion that this giant isn't even two years old yet.

I can't believe he's not older by twenny6point2, on Flickr

Delicious. We (i.e. Brother in Law, I drink beer and watch and photograph) do it most years. stays moist and juicy in the middle, but gives a nice crispy skin. injected it with creole butter this year. yum.

Re: Cheese! 2011!

Thanks Ceetar.

The vantage point just worked out. We initially met up with friends in Columbus Circle, but we got there late and I couldn't see a thing. So we headed north a couple of blocks to the side streets off of CPW.

Next year I'm hoping to get a spot on CPW, like we used to when we lived in the City. But it was fun seeing the balloons peek their heads around the corner of the building as they came into sight :)

They were a little south of Radio City. Somewhere in the upper 40's, on the west side.

And seawolf - I may be small, but my camera is pretty sizable

Of course he's safe. Number 16 didn't even step off the mound. (I have no idea why these pictures are grainy. weird)

btw, if you look closely, you'll notice the crowd is doing the wave. Barely paying attention to the game. I mean, Gooden's pitching to Piazza with Reyes on base and they're doing the freaking wave? (I realized later I should've chopped some feet off to clearly make the hand raised bears look taller)

358. Lining Up The Shot by twenny6point2, on Flickr

he's taking my picture with the tripod. took us a while to figure out what he was doing. then he asked us to say cheese. we got it then. after he takes a picture, he turns his "camera" around so we can see the shot.

the pictures always turn out good, imo. he's quite the budding photographer.

honestly, it's really cute that he does try to line up the "viewfinder" so that he can see us when he takes our picture. might have to look into getting him a camera of his own...
