Memories of Pedro Feliciano

His signing finally confirmed by the Yankees. Two years and an option for a third.

Besides his rubber-armed sweeping anti-lefty goodness I'll remember the King Tut goatee he wore back in the Art Howe days and his china doll daughter.

The new active Met mound appearance leader is Francisco Rodriguez, with 123.

He is also believed to to lead all active Mets in holding cell appearances.

More Mets games than Tom Seaver. You don't see that every day. (Unless, that is, you make a daily habit of looking at John Franco's or Pedro Feliciano's stats.)

Feliciano was the one Mets autograph my daughter ever got, and now he's a Yankee. She's not at all pleased. She's talking about throwing away the cap he autographed, but I'm trying to get her to see that he was a Met when he signed it, and once he's done being a Yankee his Metliness will be restored.

Re: Memories of Pedro Feliciano

Waiting to meet somebody outside Citi Field an hour or so before game time in September 2009, Pedro magically appeared in full uniform. It was Hispanic Heritage Night (or whatever it was called) and Goya, one of the sponsors, had a big novelty check of some sort to present. Not sure why it wasn't done by home plate. Anyway, security hustled Pedro to Mets Plaza to grip and grin and take a picture. He was flanked by as much security as Joe Biden gets -- at least one guard for every fan who happened to be loitering in the vicinity.

Pedro came in, got the job done and quickly departed. Just like he did most every night in 2009.

Aside from the fact that he was the Met most likely to sign autographs before games, I remember Pedro as being a very good sport about posing with Joey during spring training last February -

I remember the story with that picture, his little girl had open heart surgery in the same hospital that Lorcan had his a few months later.

Apart from that Pedro was a link to Valentine....

I think we should start a "What's the weirdest thing you can get a Mets player to pose with" contest for Spring Training.
