Edgy DC Jan 20 2011 10:10 PM Re: Bingoland, 2011 |
On the verge of an retirement during a terrible run and down 40 to Lunchbucket, I threw down the wordy-looking letter combination ENWOUND, and damned if it wasn't kosher. Suddenly, I'm William H. Macy in The Cooler, and my luck does a 180. I'm throwing down hammers left and right, including two more bingos in the next four turns --- RALLIERS and DIOXIDE --- both of which I saw just as I was about to hit submit on some other flaccid 14-18 point play. My 456-280 victory was as complete as any in recent memory.

I'm annihilating two good friends on WWF right now. One is a 498-157 lead with 15 tiles left in the bag in which I've played JOIN and AZURE on the TL-TW spreads, each for more than 100 points. The other is a 572-228 lead, but we're in the endgame there.

I hung up OUTGAZE on a DWS a while back -- and then got a further bonus when the opponent challenged it and lost his turn leaving me able to turn a not-too-great draw [two Ys] into ACIDLY/OUTGAZED which, with the Y on a TL square and the word itself doubled, got me an even higher score than the first one IIRC.

|
metsmarathon Dec 11 2011 09:24 PM Re: Bingoland, 2011 |
i dunno. most of my wordplay is on wwf right now. mostly because all my friends play wwf, and i don't get any fb game requests anymore. scrabble loads way slower than wwf on my iphone, and doesn't always successfully load my games when i have them, but it does push notifications most of the time. its just such a pain in the ass to get the app to load consistently that i don't always pop into it.
|
Mets – Willets Point Dec 12 2011 10:39 AM Re: Bingoland, 2011 |
|
I believe the layout and scoring are different in WWF so that it will not be in violation of the copyright of SCRABBLE Brand Crossword Game. I don't like it too much because it changes the strategy of the game. Also, WWF is overly flashy with annoying ads and stuff, but doesn't give you a preview of what your score would be when you lay out the tiles. I don't have a smartphone so I play both games on the computer and find SCRABBLE easier to use overall there.

Will you shut up about Words with Friends? It's a bingo thread, not an Off-Brand Alternatives to Scrabble thread. I was down by 120 with the bag empty. There I was holding two S's and two blanks, but no room to play through any tiles except and F, and I came up with SEMISOFT, not knowing if it would be kosher, and kabamm, I won by 60. And it was beautiful.
