Random Music Kwiz

REM have had 4 top 10 singles in the US. Name them (1 point each) Name their Peak position in the top 10 (3 points for each correct) Get them in the proper order of their peak position (2 bonus points)

"It's the End of the World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine)" peaked at number three. "Shiny Happy People": number eight "What's the Frequency, Kenneth": number seven "Man on the Moon": number one.

I'm pretty sure all the chartiness came from the Warner Bros. period. (Document was full of popular songs, but I don't know that they were actually popular singles.) Losing My Religion-2 Stand-7 Man on the Moon-8 Everybody Hurts-10 OE: Ooh. "Shiny Happy People" is a good one. (Good call, that is.)

Wait... when you say "proper order of peak position," you mean "chronologically, when each reached its peak position?"

This way you can get a bonus if you happen to name the top 4 but guess 1-2-3-4 when they actually finished 2-4-6-8.

I have a question! There are many charts. There are many Billboard charts. Which count? Any? All of them? Does an REM song qualify so long as it peaked in the top 10 of any chart?

After I made my REM list, I peeked at the answers. Or tried to. I was overwhelmed by the # of top 10 lists and instead, went on to more productive activities. Like trying to find a web reference for that SarcoScope magazine. Is that one word or two? And is that even a magazine, or an in-house deal?

One of these I actually know for a fact because it was a big deal at the time. The other three are guesses. "The One I Love" peak: #9 "Stand" peak: #5 "Losing My Religion" peak: #2 "Shiny Happy People" peak: #8

You get to listen to "Around the Sun" all the way through! REM had 21 songs in the Hot 100 overall but many of them in the bottom half. Would you believe their No. 5 single on this chart was "Bang & Blame" ? I can't even tell you how that one goes. One of these I actually know for a fact because it was a big deal at the time. The other three are guesses. I remember the one you're thinking of too, and it was quite a big deal. The Columbia House blurb for Document always mentioned that "The One I Love" was a #9 hit. One day I'll tell my son about Columbia House: "Yes, I used to order CASSETTES through the MAIL and you could get 12 for just a penny!"* * Plus shipping & handling and a purchasing another dozen cassettes at inflated prices.
