My tech day

5 1/2 hours with Kodak because my computer suddenly decided to stop recognizing my wireless printer, or vice versa. First with two different chat techs, after which the second one decided she couldn't figure it out, but their advanced techs on their 800 number could surely do it. So more time with the advanced tech, who couldn't figure it out, but said he'd connect with his supervisor, who could surely do it. So on hold for about fifteen minutes, at which point we had a mini-power failure and I lost the connection.

gotta try for direct lines sometimes when you get transferred all over the place.

I'd suggest just unplugging and replugging in your router. routers are evil evil things and I blame them for everything.

Re: My tech day

After a grueling seven hours and no resolution, my stepdaughter stepped in and fixed it.

Re: My tech day

At least I don't have to start a new thread for this post.

Anybody here ever get this error message?

It pops up when I try to log into ebay. I have no log-in problems with any other sites. ebay couldn't fix it - but not before telling me to clear my cache, history etc.. I'm OK in internet explorer, but I hat that browser.

Personally, I don't think I've ever refused to accept a cookie.

Did you actually clear your temp internet files/cookies or just the cache and history?

I've seen it before though. could try shift-f5 as well. sometimes that works.

Re: My tech day

I cleared everything. Which I regret because there were some sites that I was able to log into only because my passwords, which I've long forgotten, were saved/memorized.

By the way, I've fixed it. All by myself. I googled the error message and found the fix. It's a bookmark problem. The solution is to delete the old bookmark, and access the site by linking from, say, google. Then save that bookmark.

Use Chrome and be done with the nonsense.

Re: My tech day

Here's ebay's log-in link:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn

Do you wanna type that every time you log in?

But even if it were only four characters, it's still easier to log-in by clicking once on a link/bookmark. No?

Honestly I don't use bookmarks at all except when I'm in danger of forgetting the site.

I'd just type eb, down arrow return and then click sign in.

Can you imbed the login into the bookmark? that'd be nice. Just trying to figure out wht about that bookmark needed to be refreshed.

I've tried Chrome, and it has its own set of problems. I much prefer Firefox.

I tried, couldn't get it to work. Didn't think ebay would allow it. Some sites will allow you to pass parameters (the username/password) in the url. Was curious if you could bypass the login entirely.

In FF, all I do i type "e" and a dropdown menu appears with ebay at the top. Then I just click. If I want to go to easybib or examiner, they're right there too. I have more of a choice with "n" -- could be netflix, new paltz, ny times, or nick and jake. But they're all right there.
