So, After the Accident

I was taken to the hospital.
Like a schmuck, I went to work yesterday. Coming home, my car skidded off the road and I ended up hanging upside down in my seat belt.
A Policeman extracted me, called an ambulance, and I was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco. That's where I am now, waiting for my wife to come pick me up.
My car was taken to some place in Westchester, waiting for an insurance adjustor to take a look. Didn't look too good.

Check in later.

Re: So, After the Accident

Glad you're okay. After fighting with the unplowed lot and breaking my car and seeing some of the local roads, I'd suggest others take this to heart and try not to drive today..

Re: So, After the Accident

That's scary! Glad you are OK.

I don't like driving in the snow. Out here, the drivers are pretty good at it -- we get a lot of experience. But I'm never comfortable doing it.

Posting from the hospital, that's hard core!
Glad you were buckled up.

At least he didn't post from the car. "Hi guys, waiting for the cops to show up to pull me out of my upside down car. Did you know the roads are nasty? stay inside!"

Still waiting as of 11 AM.
As for the seatbelt, my avatar is Brian Cole, who died when thrown from his car. He was not wearing seatbelts at the time of his accident. It is something I've never forgotten.
Thanks for the best wishes.

Welcome to American emergency medicine! Are you new here?

Seriously, though... Jebus. Am exceedingly glad you're whole and hale.

Re: So, After the Accident

I drove yesterday and I was terrible. Nothing but random chance kept me from ending up like you, except I'd be covered in blistering soup.

Recover quickly, but take it easy. It takes a bit for the system shock to wear off.

You took the words right out of my mouth. As I was working my way through this thread, I was going to write about what a hard core forum member he was for posting from the hospital. But you beat me to it. So I won't write that.

Get well, MFS62.

Dude! Did you have any snappy one-liners for the cop when he found you?

Seriously, glad you're OK.

Wow, glad to hear you're ok.

Get well soon. Slip the doctor a few bucks to recommend that you spend the next few days lying in bed getting waited on hand and foot.

Back home. Its about 2:15 local time.

No, not for the cop. He asked how I was. I said "OK, I think". He said "I'm calling the EMT". (Guess I didn't look OK to him.)
But when the EMT came, he asked me "Are you OK?", and I asked him "Isn't that what you're supposed to tell me?".

Not snappy, but the best I could do under the circumstances.

Cole was wearing a defective seatbelt.
