Same.

How, with all the careful deliberation and debate, did we end up with this? (A group including Happy Days and Beaver and Monkees -- okay, you liked the music, and it has some merit, but was CLOSE to one of the all-time best?-- I mean.)

Probably should point out - just to avoid any confusion - that the Newhart in THIS poll is the Vermont Inn-keeper Newhart and the one in Group A is the Chicago Head-shrinker Newhart

I LOVED All in the Family. If it comes down to me having to choose between Honeymooners and AITF, I'll have a tough decision. Otherwise, the Bunker family will beat all comers as far as I'm concerned.

interesting battle between ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (sandy koufax), with a short but brilliant peak, and ALL IN THE FAMILY (Willie Mays), an excellent, long run that sagged badly in later years.

All in the Family
Happy Days

Most of the rest never really resonated with me. Almost voted for the Monkees but they lose my vote for not accepting Charles Manson as a member.

It's not like Willie Mays didn't have a brilliant peak also.

well, yeah, of course. Its just that Mays was one of those guys who is known for having hung on too long and stumbled around toward the end. I'm talking more about the overall arc of the career, rather than how high the arc reached at its zenith.

A better comp for Arrested Development vs. All in the Family might be Koufax vs. Feller or Spahn.

Anyone care to make the case for Lucy, leaving aside historical import?

Any show that can make clever use of Harpo Marx will get my vote.

All in the Family and Newhart are two of my all-time favorites. I also gave votes to I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show for their historic significance (although I haven't see much of the latter). I've never seen Arrested Development and the rest of this group is crap.

Yes, Arrested Development was very funny, lightning paced, well-acted and outrageous. What are you, chicken?

off the top of my head:
1) Vitameatavegamin
2) the candy conveyor belt
3) stomping grapes at the winery
4) Lucy & Superman
5) Lucy's nose on fire / William Holden episode
6) Lucy & Harpo
7) Lucy tangos with eggs in her shirt
8) Fred Mertz

Antenna TV launched on January 1, 2011, not that I knew what Antenna TV was until today when I first noticed the station on my cable TV package while channel surfing.

The lineup (selected shows):
Hazel
The Flying Nun
All in the Family
Good Times
Maude
The Benny Hill Show
Dennis the Menace
Married with Children
The Partridge Family

Two episodes of The Monkees air tonight at about 2:00 AM. I'll watch 'em if I'm up.

Discovered it a little over a week ago. Getting mildly rehooked on All In The Family and Maude, the latter even though it's in the Mrs. Naugatuck phase of the series. Last night's AITF featured a guest spot from Barney Miller's Ron Glass, playing a refrigerator repairman's assistant whose conduct Archie and Mike remembered quite differently half an hour after he visited the Bunker home. Differing recollections of the same incident may be a hoary plot device, but this was one held up.
