The 1970s/Chicago/doctor version of Newhart is coming off a stronger round 2 finish than it had in round 1 and now this version of Bob is matched up against Hal Linden and the ensemble cast of run-off survivor 'Barney Miller' Obviously we're down to one choice only among these two Polls stay open for 48 hours.

The Bob Newhart Show had quite a tres bien ensemble also, with Bob, famed celebrity catfighter Suzanne Pleshette, man-in-uniform-specialist Bill Daily, Peter Bonerz, and Marcia Wallace, plus several repeating semi-regulars as Bob's patients.

I loved The Bob Newhart Show when I was a kid. I appreciate that Barney Miller was a great show. But I never attached to it the way that I attached to The Bob Newhart Show.

Barney, despite a few tries, couldn't really establish a female character in its men's world.

As much as I love The Bob Newhart Show - Barney Miller just edged it out for me.

Bob Newhart created a marvelous, believable and absolutely hilarious universe, all from low-key characters. This one wasn't close for me, despite my respect for Barney Miller as a cut above its ABC brethren from the late '70s.

The toughest choice of all. In my world both of these shows would make it to the semifinals. Alas, I can only pick one so it's Bob Newhart by an eyelash.

I went with Bob though Barney was a fine show. If Bob were pitted against the other likely losers in this round, Dick Van Dye, I Love Lucy and MASH, I would vote for the other shows.
