Two 'fifties-era giants go head-to-head
Both dominated their bracket in round 1, then took big hits in round 2

Only one early TV icon can move on ... which should it be?
Voting closes late morning on Wednesday

The Honeymooners, which will get my vote every time, unless it comes up against All in the Family.

I went with Lucy. I used to watch the show when I was little.

I never liked The Honeymooners. Gleason constantly threatening to send Alice to the moon frightened me when I was a kid, and I never really got past that.

Jackie G vote here - and it's not even close.

I never 'got' the Honeymooners as much as every other male within 10 years of my age did.

Lucy always made me laugh.

Tough one. Two fine, classic shows. Better than many from other rounds. Went with Honeymooners but I'd gladly watch either one.

Lucy annoyed me endlessly, and I fondly remember watching The Honeymooners with my grandfather in Brooklyn - this one's an easy one.

Ralph merely threatened domestic violence. Ricky got right down to business.

I'm still predicting The Honeymooners to go all the way. It is so far out in a class by itself.

I voted Honeymooners, which is in my personal inner circle of favorite sitcoms. All in the Family's in there, too. Probably Arrested Development, too.

39 episodes of gold, those Honeymooners. I went with Lucy, though. Caught an ep or two on Hallmark recently and even as wacky as it could get, it really held up from close to 60 years ago. Just defined the sitcom genre for so long. Tough call. Every New Year's Eve/Day marathon of The Honeymooners is a reminder of how world-class Jackie Gleason and Art Carney were.

Audrey Meadows was also very good.

Joyce Randolph was lucky to be among that crowd.

Another difficult choice. I watched Lucy religiously when I was very young. Honeymooners was more of a stay-up-late treat on WPIX during my pre-teen years. I'll go with Honeymooners because Gleason & co. are more consistently funny. Another day I might vote the other way.

Easy choice, I went with The Honeymooners.

If Fred Mertz had been the focal point of the Lucy Show then we'd have a whole new ballgame.

I guess that decade wasn't too good for feminists (If there was such a term back then.)
This vote is betweeen a show in which the husband threatens to puch his wife ("To the moon, Alice") and a show in which the wife gets herself into dumb scrapes, then depends on her husband to get her out of them.

Looking back on those shows, they were both horriffic.

Wait a second. Didn't you write that The Honeymooners was before your time?

The other shows were before my time, even in syndication.

I did. They were. Nicely researched.

I never saw the appeal of Lucy. She grew very tiresome very quickly.
