An eponymous show centered around writers for a TV show goes up against an eponymous show where the writers cast themselves as characters who at one point try to create a TV show with themselves as writers

Which one moves on?

Seinfeld. I always felt the characters could have been my neighbors (especially since all of the footage shot on the streets for that show were of Upper West Side locations).

Was the secret to Seinfeld in the editing?

Dick Van Dyke - IMO, the sitcom that all others should be judged against.

I thought at first that you meant Dick vs Jerry Van Dyke. A chance to vote for My Mother, the Car!

Dick. Funnier and more human.

Dick Van Dyke was the perfect sitcom for its time, far outclassing anything else the '60s offered, and remained accessible far into reruns. Seinfeld's sweet spot, of maybe three years, was, I suppose, perfect for the '90s, but I had a hard time getting into the first season-plus and by its final three or so seasons, I groaned a bit more than I laughed. A great touchstone, but Dick Van Dyke feels timeless.

One true classic vs. one overrated piece of garbage.

Dick van Dyke will still be great in 50 years. Seinfeld still won't be funny no matter how long it goes.

I prefer Dick Van Dyke, but Seinfeld was very funny, at least for its first few seasons. It did eventually become unwatchable (to me, anyway) but it continued to be popular.

Wow... Dick Van Dyke is staging a late rally. Now only trails 16 to 11. Probably too much to overcome, but suddenly, there's hope.

From different directions, these voting margins have all grown spookily similar. (Maybe excepting the Honeymooners-Lucy dust-up.)

Dick Van Dyke. I would watch that show any time.
I would watch Seinfeld too, but DVD for me.
