Following its quarter-final upset of the previously #2 ranked 'Cheers', 'Seinfeld' goes up against 'All in the Family' fresh off its dismantling of 'Mary Tyler Moore'

So how do YOU like your laughter?
- From the iconic 1970s sit-com or the iconic 1990s one?
- From leading man Archie or centerpiece Jerry?
- The ditziness of Edith or of Kramer?
- A show about issues or one about nothing?
- Gloria or Elaine (a variation on the 'Ginger or Maryann' question)
- Neighbor/Frenemy Jefferson or Newman?
- At Kelsey's bar or Tom's Diner?

You have two days to decide.

The rest of the way is going to be very easy for me.

I rank the final four as follows:

1. All in the Family
2. Honeymooners
3. Odd Couple
4. Seinfeld

I love both shows, but AiTF has more heart.

All in the Family was comedy gold.

Seinfeld was comedy lead.

It's as simple as that.

I think Chuck is Morty Seinfeld's neighbor Klumpus.

I wonder if George's parents ever crossed paths with the Bunkers on Queens Blvd. Or as Archie would have called them, the Canastas, there.

Either way, All in the Family steamrolling Seinfeld.

This reminds me of Bush v. Gore. I wanted the other guy to win on both sides in the previous round.

These are two of my all time faves. I went with Seinfeld here though as it was more contemporary to me, having watched this show every week when it was in prime time.

I still laugh my ass off at Seinfeld. Not the same with Archie and friends.

This was a blowout last I checked. Late arriving Seinfeld crowd?

Seems like a bunch of Upper West Siders have logged on intent on defeating the outer boroughs sitcoms. Go, outer boroughs I say.

You can't see me right now, but when I'm not typing, I'm flashing curled fingers spelling "UWS" at the monitor.

'Cause the monitor's, like, all of your eyes.

Or as Archie would have called them, the Canastas, there.

E: Costanza
A: Whatever

My guess is the cast of Seinfeld would all vote for All in the Family.

'All in the Family' is the one show of the final four I didn't watch regularly. Oh I saw a bunch of them here and there, but it was never a habit while it was in its first run and I rarely watched it in syndication.
Not sure that there was a specific reason why I never latched onto it, maybe because I thought Archie was made to look/sound cartoon-ishly tough to believe at times.

Carroll O'Connor and Jackie Gleason were both born of Irish New Yorker stock, and both grew up in neighborhoods pretty analagous to those of their characters. Gleason in fact used the address where he grew up for Ralph Kramden's address.
