I've had it on multigrain and oat-bran bread. It is indeed delicious.

Plus, even if the bananas are a little under- or overripe, the kiss of honey makes up for the sweetness deficit. (Nutella works too, if you're feeling a little indulgent/supernutty.)

Ted Berg's sandwich reviews are what keep me coming back there, frankly. (Although he's dead wrong about the Sloppy Bao. BaoGuette, IMO, kinda sucks.)

SNY's special in which David "went home" to Virginia revealed David is wildly enthusiastic about his high school, his high school teachers, the Norfolk Tides, his brother, the trophy case at his high school, the assistant principal from when he was in high school, the fact that the assistant principal is now principal, that his dad's law enforcement connections got him access to Tide autographs and foul balls when he was a kid...

And that was the first three minutes.

Re: Things That David Wright is Wildly Enthusastic About

Wright has talked in the past about being a big VT fan (football anyway) based on the fact that one of his brothers goes/went there. Of course it's always easy to latch onto winning college programs so over the last decade or so VT tends to get the nod over UVA among Virginia residents even though VT is tucked away in the far south-western corner of the state and about a six or more hour drive from most of the more populated northern & eastern sections.
It's like in my family where my numerous Duke relatives care a lot about ACC hoops but not much about football. Meanwhile the priorities of my Clemson relatives are exactly the opposite. Funny how that works.

What a great experience for Mason yesterday!!! As a 5-year-old, who just adores the Braves, he had no clue the All-Star that he was playing catch with at the time. My wife and I were just amazed at what was happening! We didn't think the day could get any better than that until David threw his arm band into the stands after the game, and Mason got it! He hasn't wanted to take it off since. He even tried to sleep in it last night, but we wouldn't let him! He did wear it to his T-ball game tonight, though! If you get a chance, please let David know how much that 15 minutes meant to the kids. His fan base grew a little larger in the South over the weekend. All Mason normally talks about is Chipper Jones, and now if you ask him who his favorite player is, he says David Wright. ... Maybe we'll be lucky enough to have him as a Brave one day :)

Jeter wouldn't have such concerns.

Jeter would have demanded the kid swallow a spoonful of cinnamon if he wanted an extra toss.

For the Gatorade commercial, Jeter was shot in super-slow-motion high definition by a camera moving along a track as he made his trademark jump throw, a leaping throw to first base deep from the shortstop hole. The shot was spectacular to the point of artistry, a kind of Baryshnikov meets The Matrix. "It's almost perfect," gushed the young, enthusiastic director, Adam Berg. Almost. The director tried more takes. Jeter finally presented Berg with a proposal.

"I told you I would do five jumps and three slides," Jeter said, referring to another scene in which he slid into second base. "But I'll make you a deal: I'll do 10 jumps and six slides, and all you have to do is swallow one spoonful of cinnamon. If not, five and three. Just one spoonful."

"With water?" Berg asked.

"Only after you swallow it."

[...]

Somebody fetched a plastic spoon and a jar of cinnamon. Jeter allowed Berg to examine them, then loaded the spoon with the spice, doing his level best to maintain an air of seriousness. He had arranged similar wagers earlier this year with teammate Brian Bruney and then one of the clubhouse attendants, not to be confused with his other favorite wager that involves asking someone if they think they can eat five saltines in one minute. Berg couldn't believe his luck; all he had to do was swallow the cinnamon and Jeter would have to give him 10 takes toward getting the perfect jump-throw shot.

As soon as Berg shoved the spoon in his mouth, Jeter jumped away laughing. Quickly, Berg gagged, his cheeks puffed, his eyes watered and cinnamon smoke began spewing from a crack in his pursed lips. He looked like a man about to burst. Berg grabbed a bottle of water and began gulping from it.

"That's it!" Jeter shouted. "You lose! The deal was no water until you swallowed it."

After several minutes to recover, Berg asked Tiernan, "He's not serious, is he?"

"Oh, he's serious," Tiernan replied.

Another victory, however small, for Derek Jeter, today's superstar most synonymous with winning. But none of the accoutrements of his success—the five rings, the $189 million contract, the national endorsements and the starlet on his arm—capture the essence of his success. In the difficult days of the Philippines campaign during World War II, General Douglas MacArthur wrote A Father's Prayer, which begins, "Build me a son, O Lord." MacArthur prayed for a son with, among other traits, "humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness." Therein lies true victory. The great wonder is not that Jeter has won so much but that he has won so well. He is the good son, the good winner.

They used to talk abut Wright as being the "Jeter of the Mets." No thank you.

oh God , I remember this article .....terrible stuff

it was cool what Wright did , but there will always be people who whine about it, and it's not like he planned it , he threw a ball in to the stands as is the norm and instead of keeping it the fan got his attention and threw it back, thus the game of catch.

Perhaps David spoke too soon, per Steve Popper in the Record

Players who’ve been around say Wright has taken on more of a vocal role this year. He intervened when one clubhouse situation seemed to be splitting the room earlier this season. When the Mets flew to Atlanta on Thursday off a doubleheader sweep that dragged the team further down, he was one of the players who spoke up to lighten the mood. After Sunday’s game, he was one of the last players in the clubhouse, giving Manhattan dining advice to Jason Isringhausen and clothing guidance to rookie Brad Emaus.

"Wear comfortable clothes, kid. Hauling your bags out of the clubhouse makes you sweaty."

Spontaneous patriotic chanting.

"I don't like to give Philadelphia fans too much credit, but they got this one right," Mets third baseman David Wright said.

He added: "I guess it's a proud moment to stand out there and you've got 45-50,000 chanting. That was pretty special."

... Wright reflected back to the Mets' trip to Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Tuesday, on the opening day of their two-city road trip to Washington and Philadelphia.

"The emotions that those guys must be going through hearing that same news -- as proud and as great as the moment was being on a baseball field -- you multiply that by a million and that's probably what they're feeling at the fire houses, at the police stations," said Wright, whose father Rhon is assistant police chief in Norfolk, Va. "At the places like Walter Reed, it's just an incredible moment. And like I said, for more than a split second, you kind of come together. You got the New Yorkers and Philadelphia the city to kind of come together for a common cause.

"It put a smile on my face before I even knew what was going on. It made me feel a lot better after I found out."
