The Mets over/under win total is 78.5. I say over.

I like the "over" bets on Baltimore, Oakland and Mets.
Like the "under" bets on Los Angeles (A), Tampa and San Diego.

Heavy on the Os' and Brewers' over, and the Phils' and Angels' under.

Re: Vegas Win Totals

I'll take the over on the Pirates , this is the year they break 75 wins for only the fifth time since 1992.

Over on the Mets , under on the A's

Mets, Orioles over. Twins, A's under.

Angels are most definitely under.

I'd go for a big plunge on the Mets for over.

If you bet, say, $10 on the Mets to be over, what would the payout be if you won?

Over on Mets, Nats and Bucs

Under on the Phils, Rox and Twins

Put up $10, get back $20 or lose it all.

Re: Vegas Win Totals

Most start out at -110, or wager 11 to win 10. The final payout odds may depend on the total number of over/under bets-- depending on the sportsbook, they may end up adjusting the payout odds slightly, rather than moving the line, if big bets come in under or over.

LWFS has it right. I didn't know this until I bet $20 on the Jets to exceed 9.5 wins. The ticket said that the pay out would be $38.50.

Re: Vegas Win Totals

of course you could do it spread betting style and get a 'unit' for every win over 78.5 (or lose a unit for every win under - they don't tell you about that so quick!)

Re: Vegas Win Totals

I like the Under on the Phillies, yeah they are loaded but alot has to go right to win that many games.
I like the Under on the Giants, I think that number is just a bit high for an above average team that caught fire at the right time and won the series
And I like the Over on the Orioles, I see them nearing .500

Re: Vegas Win Totals

Lots of folks high on the Orioles, but I don't see them making an astronomical jump. 54 games against BOS, TAM, NYY. They're at best the fourth best in that division, and I'm pretty sure Toronto will finish ahead of them as well.

UNDERS - Marlins, Reds, Tigers
OVERS - Mariners, Brewers, Giants

I also think the Mets will be an over and top last year's win totals.

Re: Vegas Win Totals

I agree on the Orioles being a tad overrated. Not sure they can't win 75, but I'd lean towards under. People are overrating (Hi Michael Kay!) the impact of Showalter.

Over/Under for taking them one game at a time is 162.

Re: Vegas Win Totals

Michael Kay might be chalking up any improvement to Buck Showalter, I think most everyone else might, y'know, be looking at the roster. There are some ifs, but they added Derrek Lee, Vlad Guerrero, JJ Hardy and Mark Reynolds to a solid core, some young offensive talent, and waves of young pitching maturing right now.

Provided Lee and Guerrero have 1-2 more seasons in them, they could do some serious damage, and not just as a spoiler.

That's fair, I'd actually forgotten how much they did this offseason. Hard to keep up with the other teams, particularly junior circle teams, sometimes.

Still dont' think they sniff .500, but that's not too bad.

1) If you've already submitted O/U re-check the chart to make sure I've gotten them right
2) We'll leave this open for additions, changes, etc until about a week before opening day
3) We'll drag this up at the end of the season so we can mock all the wrong guesses
4) Winner receives nothing whatsoever

i'll probably think about filling otu the chart completely if mockability later is a possibility.

Pirates over.

I'm gonna say Cardinals under, as I suspect even Vegas is gonna, or has, lowered that number.

Cubs over, Reds under.

Yeah, I saw some estimate that knocked the Cards O/U down like 5 wins after Wainwright went down.
We'll stick with the posted numbers at the top of this thread since it's the same for everyone.

Re: Vegas Win Totals

On FAN Saturday, Evan Roberts was talking to Sandy Alderson and said that the win total was 78.5. Evan asked if we should bet the over and Sandy said "absolutely."
