Look, I'm not one of those douchebags who can't appreciate what Beltran's done for the Mets or who singles him out for "blame" in what went wrong: He was once a terrific player and a major contributor.

But let's face it: He's had off since September 28 and he can't run?

And not for nothing, but right field in CitiField can't be that much of a picnic as compared to center. It's enourmous, there are angles and walls and jumping and doubles to run down. This is not an assignment for a guy whose knees are shot. As I said in my pessimistic "Expectations" thread, I'd be very surprised if Beltran supplies anyone much of anything for the remainder of his career. And even if he does, well, the Mets oughta be prepared for Plan B anyway.

So, what's it gonna be? Vote for who you think will get the most innings in right field in 2011, and what the alternatives could be.

If Beltran doesn't show, the season is pretty shot under any circumstances, I think. I would guess Fernando Martinez is next in line there.

D'oh, I knew I was forgetting someone, added Fartinez to the choices.

I was thinking maybe they try something radical and promote Kirk Neieuwenhuis provided he hits in Buffalo, and move Pagan over. But I've had this sinking feeling we're gonna see more Scott Hairston than we bargained for.

I am starting to believe that the 2011 Mets could an 85 win team if Carlos Beltran is healthy and productive (for a full season*).

That being said, my confidence in Beltran being healthy and productive is pretty low.

I voted Beltran. I figure that even if he only plays in 40 per cent of the games, he'll end up with more than anybody else.

CHUT UP! CHUT UP! Beltran will play 165 games, run like a bionic deer, and put out neighborhood fires with showers of towering fly balls.

(I'm of Grimmy's mind here, I guess. Beltran by plurality.)

Beltran -- which would hew perfectly to the whoever plays the most RF one year isn't here any longer by the end of the following year. And I don't expect him here come October 2012.

Beltran, simply because I don't think the remaining starts will go to one player in particular.

He'll also deliver babies in the Modell porch and poop gold ingots.

165 huh? If they sweep through, that's 173. Maybe it takes them 15. (give 'em two losses in each of the last two rounds) that's 177. I think he'll sit more than 12 games during the season, but I suppose if you figure he'd be #1 pinch hitter off the bench in rest days, 165 might work. Okay, works for me.

Bionics aren't against the rules yet right? got another year before the new CBA.
