Laundry Detergent Question

I just got a new energy-efficient washing machine, and I'm only supposed to use detergent with the HE logo on it. So I was bringing up my supply of All Free and Clear detergent to donate to a local day care center, when I noticed that two of my bottles have the HE logo on it. Two other bottles appear identical to the HE ones, but they don't have the logo.

So then I went to the All website, which claims that All Free and Clear is safe for all washing machines.

Is this true? It would be nice if I didn't have to replace my supply of detergent.

No idea... but it does seem far more likely that they neglected to put the mark on an older run of packaging than it does that they changed up the formula without making a big stink.

That's what I'm thinking.

But since it's a brand new machine, I don't want to take any chances.

Re: Laundry Detergent Question

are there any kind of serial numbers on the product packaging that would indicate that the company believes the two products to be identical, but one might have newer packaging?

heck, if the bar codes are the same, they should be the same, right? otherwise all is doing a terrible job of configuration management.

The bar codes are indeed the same!

I'm still going to try to get confirmation from the company. But I agree - that's a good indication. Thanks mm!

Re: Laundry Detergent Question

I found this on the website -

Plus, it's safe for use in standard and HE machines. It rinses clean and has a gentle, hypoallergenic formula.

I guess I'm good to go!

Re: Laundry Detergent Question

I actually got through to All customer service (after a morning of their phones being down). I can use the detergent that has the HE symbol or which says, on the back, "Safe for All Machines." I do have an older bottle which I probably shouldn't use for the new machine, so I'll donate that one.

Still, I'm glad that I don't have to get rid of the majority of my supply.

So far we've just used the stuff we bought with the HE logo.

I suppose it's not. I though I made an innocuous joke. I won't do it again. Sorry.

I take it from all of this that I'm in [innocuous pun] hot water [/innocuous pun] with you.
