David H. Hickman High School, Missouri, alma mater of Sen. Claire McCaskill (D--MO), as well as Sam and Bud Walton.

AD Johnson High School, Bessemer, Michigan (upper peninsula). Former Congressman Jay W. Johnson was an alum, but no NASCAR or open-wheel drivers came from here (nor, say, Crispin Glover).

Gee, thinks I, that's pretty funny. I wonder what else I can find in the upper peninusla.

Supposedly made famous by an ESPN commercial I've never seen.

I kinda like my daughters' alma mater:

And then, of course, there are the Gored Foxes of Marist -- their url is goredfoxes.com

This was a particularly tough one for the girls' basketball team.

The Kewpies are in Columbia, Mo, also home to the University of Missouri School of Journalism -- so we know some of the back story here. They've had the name since 1914 and Hickman is the only school in the country with it, which I'm sure brings great comfort to the football team.

Closer to home, we have Zeeland High, with its team, the Chix, for the poultry farms that were once in the area. About five years ago they added a second high school, and after much debate, the new team was named Dux.
