MLB Mafia Moments

All you Cactus League Watchers might have noticed the Cubs wore caps adorned with the number 10 yesterday, in tribute to Ron Santo, as part of a ceremonial day honoring him at their spring complex. But they only wore them in batting practice. According to very few reports --- because who wants to muck up a report on a solemn tribute with bitching about uniforms --- they were unallowed to wear them during the game because they WERE UNADORNED WITH THE MLB LOGO. This has been an MLB Mafia Moment.

I thought they might have been for Rey Ordonez...but I'm guessing he didn't wear #10 with the Cubs.

Rey's a hero of mine for just this reason. It was his initiaitve that led the Mets to stick it to MLB and wear the city service agency caps on the field in 2001.
