Is there a Marlins KTE? If not, I got one...

…that I just threw together, at least thanks to a bunch of stuff I’ve stolen from the web.

(I'll happily step aside if someone else is doing this)

The Mets open 2011 against their division rivals the Florida Marlins. Good things are expected of the Marlins by many (SI: 88 wins!). Florida had great success against the Mets at home in 2010, winning all six bouts between the teams in South Florida. The Marlins were victorious in 12 of their 18 overall encounters with New York last season as well. This will probably be their final season at Joe Robbie Stadium/Pro Player Stadium/Pro Player Park/that Jimmy Buffet Beer Stadium/Sun Life Stadium.

Fish Pitching for the weekend:

Fri: Josh Johnson – the staff ace, pitched to a 2.30 ERA as he won 11 games in 28 starts last year, with 186 Ks in 183 IP. One of the guys counted on to lead this Marlins resurgence (we’ll see; I keep hearing every year about how “this is the year!” for Florida. Never happens).
Sat: Ricky Nolasco – Averaged 14 wins for the Marlins the last 3 years. So he’s got that going for him.
Sun: Javier Vazquez – After heroically sucking for the Yanks last year (his second stint of suckiness in the Bronx), he’s back in the NL where he has experienced his best success. Please note I have no proof that he was really bad for the Yankees beyond hysterical callers to sports radio telling me such. Had a great 2009 for the Braves.

Lineup:
1B – Gaby Sanchez. Had a pretty good year in 2010 as a rookie. Which, if you know your Marlins history, means that within 2 years he will either flame out or be traded.
2B – Omar Infante. Picked up from the Braves in the off season. Did he actually make the All-Star Game last year (.321 with an OPS of .775)? First year in many that Dan Uggla will not start at 2B for the Fish.
SS – Hanley Ramirez. We all know Hanley. Great bat, not so great glove.
3B – Donnie Murphy. But you may also see old NL East warhorses Wes Helms and Greg Dobbs get time there.
LF – Logan Morrison. Has a name that sounds like a douchey lacrosse player at an East coast prep school. Hit .283 in 62 games with the Fish last year.
CF – Chris Coghlan. Miscast as a CF (at least according to SI), the one-time ROY looks to bounce back from a disappointing 2010.
RF – Mike Stanton. Near the top of the “great NL East Rookie Class of 2010” with Strasburg, Hayward, Davis, and I am sure I am forgetting others. Stanton had 22 bombs and an .833 OPS in close to 400 PAs last year.
C – John Buck. Came over from the Blue Jays in the offseason. 20 HRs and an .802 OPS (something in the water in Skydome last year?). Threw out 18 out of 65 guys attempting to steal. John Buck is a real man’s name, this offsets the douchiness of Logan Morrison’s name.

Other guys you might need to know:

Leo Nunez – Should be used as the Marlins closer. That’s all you need to know, because I don’t expect they’ll need him this weekend.

Emilio Bonifacio – He fast. Had an opening day inside the park HR against the Nationals, over the head of old friend Lastings Milledge a couple years ago.

Thanks for whipping it up --it looks more impressive than the average ABNS effort -- considering I havent done one in 2 years, I shouldn't talk right?

does anybody know what they gave up for Buck?

Buck was signed as a free agent so he cost them a three year deal worth $16.5 million bucks .

Thanks.

Jimmy Two Times (from GoodFellas) on Sun-Life Stadium.

It's a fucking awful stadium, awful stadium.

That's crazy. Buck's basically white Barajas (decent D, lifetime .301 OBP, occasional slugging binges).

Coghlan was an iffy LEFTfielder (having never played outfield in the minors), and should fit right in to the Marlins' outstanding defensive tradition in center field.

No problem. Is there a KTE sign-up thread? I must have missed it.
