Know Thy Phillies - April 5th-April 7th- Citizen Punks Park

NY Mets - 2-1 @ - Philadelphia Phillies - 3-0

Terry Collins helps set the stage when comparing the Phillies to the incomparable MFY's when he managed the Angels

"You knew they had that great club," he said. "You got yourself up to play them. You raised your level of play a little bit higher because you wanted to show them you were as good as they are. And I think that goes with our pitching staff. I truly believe ... our guys will go in and realize what a great challenge it's going to be, and we'll rise up for it."

A good time to head to Philly? , I think so and I like that the Mets are playing them early , nice to go in there on the back of two road wins too.

Game One - Tuesday 4/5, 7:05 PM ET at Citizen Punks Park

Probable Pitchers

Chris Young, RHP Oasis might best sum up Young for me......

Hey! stay young and invincible
Cos we know just what we are
And come what may we're unstoppable
Cos we know just what we are

Stay young and healthy and I think we have a good one in Young , as Joe Morgan might say there are no sabr numbers to predict that , so going purely on my gut, which has got me in trouble in the past I'm going to say Young will stay healthy.

Colbert Hammels Colbert is such an asshole he likes his first name pronounced with a French accent , as in Stephen Cobert....asshole , this guys a proper wanker, ....12-111 last season but with an ERA of 3.06 , career record against the Mets is not desirable...for him that is.....

Game Two - Wednesday 04/05 - 7:05 PM ET at Citizen Punks Park

Mike Pelfrey -(0-1, 10.38 era

"Big Mike" looked less than in his first start, as we were reminded it was the shortest opening day start from a Met since Tom Glavine in 2003. I can never get a read on this guy , if Seaver were in the booth and downing his wine he might opine that "Big Mike" is not a foxhole guy, not to be trusted....

Officer Joe Blanton

One time certain Met player Blanton is not on Mount Rushmore, one of those guys easily forgotten but usually turns in a solid days work.

Game Three - Thursday - 04/06 7:05 PM ET at Citizen Punks Park

Johnathon Niese - (0-0 -2.57 era)

Niese pitched stellar in his first outing against the Marlins , he was hooking and reeling in those Marlins all night.

Roy Halladay - (0-0 - 1.50 era)

Great pitcher , not a good pitcher , a great pitcher

Like the Mets the Phillies are missing some players they are depending on for big seasons

Some notes courtesy of various MLB outlets

Shane Victorino should be back from the "day to day" and play Tuesday

Brian BoCock - Left pisiform fracture - I kid you not...due back late April

Turn out the lights on Lidge Right posterior rotator cuff strain -Out at least three to six weeks.

Chse Utley - Patellar tendinitis in right knee , took fielding practice in late March, listed as possible for an April return.....yeah right

Dominick Brown Broken hamate bone ,l underwent surgery March 8. Late April return

Brian Schlitter Strained right elbow,Placed on DL March 30.

Jason Bay Strained left intercostal muscle , aiming to return April 9.

Ronny PaulinoOut Indefinitely , Blood disorder Will go on DL after serving suspension.

Johan Santana Possibly mid-season , Torn capsule in left shoulder , Threw off flat ground in late March.

More Stolen Notes

New York has won the first series of the season in five of the last six years. ... Howard now has 754 career RBIs, moving him past Willie Jones into 11th place in franchise history. ... ... Michael Martinez, a Rule 5 pick, made his Major League debut in place of Victorino on Sunday. Martinez went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts in his debut. ... The Mets went 8-16 last year in the decisive game of a three-game series, and they were just 2-8 -- with both wins coming in September -- on the road in those circumstances.

Time to roll , Lets Go Mets

Nice job!

Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio -- with Yankee hack Buster Olney -- were already jumping off the Phillies bandwagon this morning. I was just stunned they were talking about baseball!

And he'll steal your pretty blond and black children and force them into gauzy fashion shoots in his bed.

.

Yeah, that 3-0 start is a real turn-off.

Listen, I'm rooting as respectfully as anyone for them to get bloodied and beaten and for their collective cock to rot and fall off and for the children of Philadelphia to go to bed with red, tear-stained cheeks for the next 4-5 months. But make no mistake-- this will not be simple or easy.

I'm kinda a little concerned that Chris Young's flyball tendancies will make CBP an ugly place to make a Mets debut.

OTOH, I think the Mets can hit HRs with these douchebags this year.

Less than a year ago: April 23, 2010. Seems a lot longer.

April 30, 2010 more likely. Mets had just won seven games in a row.

In that Philly series, the Mets won the first game; Halladay pitched a gem the second game, and Johan got shelled the third game.
