Glucosamine

Went to the doctor March 3 about my achy toe; I am putting my surgery off until October, after summer and my daughter's wedding.
Meantime he tells me to take glucosamine--it will help!
My healthy niece Rachel says "Aunt Amy! Glucosamine! Woowoo!".

Well I got some and I hurt in places I never knew I had, plus my toe hurts worse. Is that how it is supposed to be? Anybody else use it, or have a better idea for joint pain?

Re: Glucosamine

Glucosamine is overrated and most studies have shown it is has negiglible effect over the placebo.

Lyprinol is more proven as an anti-inflammatory and has other benefits like opening your lungs. It's also harder to find and more expensive. Surprise surprise. But I swear by that stuff.

But if you suffer from any anaemic ailment I'd avoid both, because they turn your blood into water, although Lyprinol less so.

Re: Glucosamine

My knees used to get sore from all my running. I started taking the glucosamine -- and wearing compression braces -- and haven't had a problem since. I can't say that the difference has been glucosamine, but I get the tablets for free from my mother-in-law who has some buy-one, get-one-free deal at her drug store so I keep taking them.

But it doesn't sound like its Cooby's placebo that hurts.
