Gwreck Apr 09 2011 05:46 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Sure looked to me like the idiot in left field reached over the railing to grab that ball hit by Espinosa and made it a homer.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 05:53 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
OK, maybe Espinosa is the better infield prospect.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 06:08 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Let's build on that.

Nice AB Young Daniel. Love the extra runs!
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 07:16 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
I know, and a little bit of offense will go a long way in helping our pitchers not pitch with their backs to the wall all the time. Hello, hit-and-run Nickeas action.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 07:16 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Holy shit Nickeas got a hit. To see his batting average you have to get Squinty.
metirish Apr 09 2011 07:16 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Unreal ...the greek fella with a hit and run and executes , although Keith claims it was a straight steal.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 07:20 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Nickeas is unfamiliar with running the bickeases.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 07:32 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Mookie's having a good year.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 07:43 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Too many fastballs maybe, Bobby.
Fman99 Apr 09 2011 07:45 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
For all of the gas Bobby can throw he's only rarely been able to consistently put it over the plate.
Fman99 Apr 09 2011 07:46 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Jeez, that foul ball went a country mile.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 07:46 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Parnell not bringing much tonight, huh?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 07:47 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Was Buchholz PHed for? He threw only a couple of pitches.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 07:47 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Let's turn 3 by the way.
Gwreck Apr 09 2011 07:48 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Nope.
metirish Apr 09 2011 07:50 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Might they replace Parnell with Izzy if things don't pick up for him?, a decision on Izzy is looking right?
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 07:50 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Needed that strikeout, but come on, Bob.
metirish Apr 09 2011 07:53 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
"he struck him out" said with feeling is what i like to hear.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 07:54 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Parnell's got options left. Also got gas.
Fman99 Apr 09 2011 07:54 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Bobby settled in there and got a nice couple of outs. Looks like they're bringing in K-Rod in the 8th to pitch to pudgy fuck Matt Stairs.
Gwreck Apr 09 2011 07:59 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Need 2 baserunners to get Rodriguez a (his first ever?) plate appearance.
Fman99 Apr 09 2011 08:01 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Correct... just looked it up at Baseball Reference. Never had a MLB plate appearance.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 08:03 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Grab a bat, Francisco.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 08:06 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
They're calling for the f-in' bunt in the radio booth.
Gwreck Apr 09 2011 08:07 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Squeeze play with Rodriguez. Make it happen.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 08:09 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
I don't think Nickeas can hit even a little and TC seems to agree. He's not afraid of going to the better bat.
metirish Apr 09 2011 08:12 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Jesus Ike, what you doing man?

Collins looks pissed
Frayed Knot Apr 09 2011 08:13 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
That's a two-run call there ... but it's also the correct one.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 08:14 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
The ghost of Throneberry walks tonight.

What the fuck.
metirish Apr 09 2011 08:15 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
a hit here erases all the bad vibes towards Frankie
Fman99 Apr 09 2011 08:15 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Wow, Frankie looks like the guy from the batting practice jersey commercial out there at the dish.
Gwreck Apr 09 2011 08:16 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Should've squeezed. Ronnie agreed.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 08:16 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Squeezed, shmeezed. He should have pointed toward the fence before swinging.

When Jose is happy, I'm happy.
Frayed Knot Apr 09 2011 08:21 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Oooooh, it's the 2011 debut of Creepy Sun Baby
Gwreck Apr 09 2011 08:21 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
I believe Rodriguez remains eligible for a save as he came in when it was still a save situation.
Frayed Knot Apr 09 2011 08:22 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Yes. It was a SS when he came in so it can't become NOT a SS for him.
metirish Apr 09 2011 08:25 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Jesus Gary stop with the Cora love...."forever endeared himself to the fans"?, yeah right
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 08:26 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Well, K-Rod is endearing himself to nobody as Cora endears himself to first base.
Frayed Knot Apr 09 2011 08:27 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Yeah, let's walk a few more guys in front of the middle of the order.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 08:28 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
It's a save situation again if Terry wants to bring anybody elbus in.
Gwreck Apr 09 2011 08:28 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
I dislike when the media tells me who to like. I didn't like Cora, I didn't like Francoeur, I didn't like Glavine. I'm sure they were great people for the media to deal with but let's cut that out already.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 08:29 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Fuck, Jose Jose, shoulda turned 3 on that one.

Well timed GIDP there. Let's put this fucking thing to bed.
Fman99 Apr 09 2011 08:31 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Frayed Knot Apr 09 2011 08:31 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Just think about how much worse that inning would have been without the tack-on runs.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Apr 09 2011 08:32 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
It takes a special sort of uncontrol to walk Alex F. Cora and Ian F. Desmond.
metirish Apr 09 2011 08:34 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
sloppy but fun , like those sloppy seconds back in the day.
Edgy DC Apr 09 2011 08:37 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Baby put to bed.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 08:45 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Holy shit that Asian reporter is grilling Collins on PHing Muffy for Hu.
soupcan Apr 09 2011 08:53 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
That was fucking funny! Reporter: "Ah, yes...ah, why you put the otha playah in fa Hu? You wah winnin by 1 point...?" Collins: "Because Hu can't hit and Murphy can."

For us bloggers that are occasionally worried about making fools of ourselves when we get the odd chance to ask a question of these guys...It's nice to know the bar is kinda low.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 09 2011 09:04 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
You gotta ask Collins that if they gave him "walking to the mound" music what song he'd choose. Do you think Collins even likes music? Or is it something he finds weird. You know Jerry liked his Coltrane and some of that motown soul, and Bobby dug the classic crooners.
metirish Apr 09 2011 09:06 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
a low blow there I think , she asks the questions the others would never ask.....her standard question is "why wasn't Hu playing", so tonight's question was well within reason.
Ceetar Apr 09 2011 09:10 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Probably a low blow, but maybe not. Every one of her questions I've heard has been racial in nature and has nothing to do with baseball. Then again, that's _exactly_ what her reader/viewership wants to know. Similar to how Swisher probably cost the Twins millions of dollars in revenue/interest from the Japanese crowd with his dirty slide.
soupcan Apr 09 2011 09:25 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
While I very much enjoyed the Asian reporter's question (for all the wrong reasons), I agree with irish that she's got balls asking what she's asking. She struggles with the language and trying to get Terry to understand where she's going, but God bless her she perseveres.
bmfc1 Apr 09 2011 09:53 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Apr 10 2011 07:05 AM |
After cringing through most of Jerry's press conference--cackle, deep breath--I'm impressed with Terry. He sounds the same, win or lose, and knows the names of most of the reporters. He also answered the Asian reporter with the same respect that he gave Marty Noble.
G-Fafif Apr 09 2011 11:12 PM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
I liked that Frankie's AB music is the same as his entrance music, likely because it never occurred to anyone he'd need AB music.
Ceetar Apr 10 2011 06:59 AM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
For the record, I thought Marty Noble's question was pretty stupid too, but I can't remember what it was this morning. It had something to do with magic.
Ceetar Apr 10 2011 07:01 AM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
Does anyone _not_ use AB music anymore now that Alou retired? Also, I assume Frankie doesn't have a batting helmet or a bat. Or does he? I saw Carrasco taking bp during spring training, but he's being used in a little bit more of a long man/might hit type role. So who's did Frankie use, and what was the process? "Hmm..Frankie, your head looks about the same size as Ike's. try his"
themetfairy Apr 10 2011 07:38 AM Re: IGT 4/9/09 - Nationals at Mets |
It was a nailbiter, but a fun game to attend.
