OOTS 4/12/11

With Zimmerman newly resident on the DL, the Nats throw a patch-of-a-patchwork lineup out there against Big, Bad Illadelph: Hairston at third, Laynce Nix in left, Wilson Ramos batting fifth, and Matt Stairs starting at first and batting cleanup. Grizzly Werth can be forgiven for tearing up a bit when he sees the lineup card.

But hey, funny thing-- Werth homers and doubles, Ramos doubles and drives in two, Senor Frisbee does his thing, and it works.

Nice. One of the douchier of my Phillies fan fb friends (I have a lot of them) today posted a photo of a Philly billboard with the lame proclamation YOU AIN'T WERTH THE MONEY, as if that's the appropriate sentiment for a 2-time league champ to send a former teammate who signed with the worst club in the league.

You know, I think a guy who pays for a billboard in order to make a stupid pun for the purpose of harassing a guy who won't even see it is exactly the type of guy who knows how to get value out of his dollar.

Atlanta blanks Florida 5-0. The Mets sink into sole possession of last place without even playing.

It would be nice to beat the snot out of Colorado in short order today and tomorrow before heading to Atlanta.

Soon they'll be trotting out "Record without Zimmerman" stats and proclaim they're better without him. Sort of like people proclaiming the Mets were better without Beltran because they happened to lose when he came back last year.
