Izzy
To the tune of Dizzy, by Tommy Roe
Player - Jason Isringhausen

Izzy
I'm called Izzy, my fastball’s spinnin'
And my curveball, it always bends
And it's you, Rick, makin' it spin
You're cheerin’ for Izzy

First time that I got called up, I knew that I just had to throw so fine
But it was hard to pitch the ball with Dallas hangin' round me all the time
All I wanted was to play
As part of Generation K
Pitchin’ too many innings all the time

Izzy
I'm called Izzy, my fastball’s spinnin'
And my curveball, it always bends
And it's you, Rick, makin' it spin
You're cheerin’ for Izzy

I finally got traded to Oak-land I was not sure exactly how I felt
Then I was still starting the games, strugglin’, and my arm began to melt
The pitching coach did propose,
“’Cause you’re called Izzy, you can close!”
I needed Peterson for some help

Izzy
I'm called Izzy, my fastball’s spinnin'
And my curveball, it always bends
And it's you, Rick, makin' it spin
You're cheerin’ for Izzy
My fastball’s spinnin'
And my curveball, it always bends
And it's you, Rick, makin' it spin
You're cheering for Izzy
Oh, I'm called Izzy
You're cheerin’ for Izzy
Yeah, I'm just Izzy

Rey Ordonez was a great fielder. But after some comments he made about Mets fans, he was an OutKAST.

[Rap]
Ready for grounders, nipped hits in the bud
Rey was never relaxin’, gave web gems everlastin’
but bashin’? Not at all.
And Ordonez would to do his actin’
And takin’ a freakin' walk was all we was askin’, no one could pass 'im
Pop ups didn’t drop, cheers came like an orgasm
All the time with a grin on his face
Fieldin’ highlights still in our memory banks - thanks!
So you paid for your ticket, and got memories everlastin’
His throws from the hole were like bullets passin’
And the first baseman puttin’ on the tag
Or takin’ the throw and touchin’ the bag
But I know y'all wanted Rey to hit
And at the end of the season his OBP stats were shit
But I know y'all wanted Rey to hit
And at the end of the season his OBP stats were shit

[Chorus:]
I liked the way Rey moved..
His fielding was so smooth.. Whoo!
I loved the way Rey moved..
I loved the way he made every play
I loved the way Rey moved..
His throws were all in the groove.. Whoo!
I loved the way he made every play..
I loved the way, I loved the way

[Rap]
The ball park fell silent, the fans all cheered with glee
Divin’ left, slidin’ right, from his knees another bb
Well I was lookin’ at him, he’d be like a man on a dance floor
He was out there stylin’ like a film-whore
.. 'specially for ESPN
But he needed love too, no no argument here, but
the fans said his hitting reeked
He couldn’t handle the heat, acted like a big freak
Insulted the very fans who fed him
He tried to insult them, stiff them, ignore them, instead of giving them
something to remember. He yelled out
timber when roster time reached the chop shop
Shoulda’ took a breath and exhaled
He became an ex-Met going into release hell
But y’all listen to the story I’m tellin' you
For that great fieldin’ infield, Rey was the glue

[Chorus]
I liked the way Rey moved..
His fielding was so smooth. Whoo!
I loved the way Rey moved..
I loved the way he made every play
I loved the way Rey moved..
His throws were all in the groove.. Whoo!
I loved the way he made every play..
I loved the way, I loved the way

[Rap]
Rey baby, show us how you short hop it
Come on baby, looks like a dance to me
You looked so fine (looked so fine) looked so fine
Kept drivin’ me out my mind (out of my mind)
Out my mind, Rey baby
And I still remember you baaa-by
Oooh you’d highlight me, and excite me
And you know, you had me, baby, Whoo!

[Chorus] w/ ad-libs - repeat to fade
I liked the way Rey moved..
Ordonez was so smooth.. Whoo!
I loved the way Rey moved..
I ‘d go out to Shea for his spectacular play
I loved the way Rey moved..
His throws were all in the groove.. Whoo!
I loved the way he made every play..
I loved the way, I loved the way

You can download a sample of "I like The Way You Move" here:

If anyone can provide a link to the entire song, I'd appreciate it.

I have a song idea for Eric Hillman in mind in the event of a tie.

(I know, I know - we'd get a different player in that case)

Edgy DC

So do I, interestingly enough.

SK's link caused my computer to crash last night, so I'm voting for MFS62 just because of that.

Just kidding.

I''ve got to wonder if Tommy Roe was ever in a court case where he needed to maintain anononimity.

Back to a tie: 9-9.

I'm afraid I don't know 62's song. I'll have to listen to it later today before I vote.

Know it or not, I did really like this line:

Well I was lookin’ at him, he’d be like a man on a dance floor
He was out there stylin’ like a film-whore

SK, excellent job. I had completely forgotten it was Peterson who was Izzy's coach in Oakland. Some bad memories in there, but a good song.

I feel a little better about bowing out to Yancy now that I know I don't have to face either of you guys in the next round.

Yancy Street Gang
Nov 04 2005 11:40 AM

And I'm glad we didn't have to do a tie-breaker. It can be hard enough to find inspiration when you have a half dozen guys to chose from.

FYI, I need to go out in a little while, so it'll be a few hours before I know whether I'm celebrating, drowning my sorrows in the Loser's Lounge, or preparing for a sudden death parody-off.

Whoever wins is my next opponent, so I have my scouts (and Jon Heyman's) watching this battle closely.

MFS62
Nov 04 2005 06:51 PM

Congrats, Scarlet.
Hey, I just found out that Capt. Morgan's and Diet Coke has no carbs, so I can drown my sorrows guilt free. I'll use it to wash down the kashe varnishkes I've ordered in to the Loser's Lounge.

To quote our idol, Al Yankovic, I "dared to be stupid". I proved for the second straight year that I can't write hip hop.
As we used to say in Brooklyn, 'Wait 'till next year".

For all you folks who voted for me, thanks.

WOW

Wonder who that last tie-breaking vote was?? I'll break the news to Scarlet when she gets back -- unless she's logging in from dinner, which is always possible.

Now I have to win just to keep up!!

Edgy DC
Nov 04 2005 08:23 PM

Anybody want to cop to that last vote, or was it just DD being coy?

ScarletKnight41
Nov 04 2005 09:14 PM

I've received e-mails from several people who claimed to have put me over the top.

No, I did not check my e-mail from dinner.

62 - great job. Outkast beat you last year, and I was impressed that you went with them this year.

Yancy - I'll meet you on the playground in a couple of days. Not that I'm looking forward to it - you've been scary in your first two matches!
