I know y'all don't put much credit in roto rankings, but this made me all warm and fuzzy. A stud defensively at third base, Wright hit well in a 69-game stint with the Mets as a rookie in 2004 (.293-14-40-41) and then broke out in a big way this year. He batted .306 with 27 homers, 102 RBIs, 99 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases, and was robbed out of his first Gold Glove. The fact that he was able to put up those kinds of numbers (along with 47 doubles and 73 walks) at the tender age of 22, while playing in a pitcher’s ballpark, is amazing. In fact, given the gap in ages, I was very tempted to put Wright ahead of Rodriguez in these rankings. If ever there was a player on a Hall of Fame career path before their 23rd birthday, it is Wright.

I earlier drove by a sign that instructed me to VOTE FOR WRIGHT. I was tickled until I realized it was a Gerald Wright running for judge in Nassau County. I squinted real hard until it said David.

The 17 stolen bases caught my eye....and his defence did get better.I know we laugh at Fran Healy but his mantra in regards to Wright all season was that his defence would get better because it was something he could work at and with Wright's work ethic that would not be a problem. long live Wright.
