No problem with me, if Mike wants to play for Italy then good for him.I know he has talked about that in the past, hell a lot of the players that play for the Republic of Ireland in soccer down the years were born in Britian, some to very dodgy Irish ancestry, yes Tony Cascarino I am talking about you....I wish Ireland had a team,I could think of several Major League guys that I would want..Sean Casey would you like an Irish passport?

Keeping watch to see how long it takes for this to show up on NYC radio as hosts made a HUGE issue of ARod wanting to play for the DR in this tourny

Even though Piazza can be considered an ex-Met its still the same issue

In the Olympics, a player is not allowed to play for an ancestral country until his native country gives their permission. (About 70% of Baseball Team Italy seems to come from Brooklyn.) I would hope A-Rod doesn't get to play for the D.R. unless Team USA decides they can't use his services.

Team Ireland:

Um, Johnny Damon, Joe McEwing, Macay McBride, Donnie Murphy (yuck, too many Royals already). Uhhh, Phil Nevin, I guess.

Tim O'Neal Perez will have a choice of the Irish or Dominican teams.
