Unclaimed Funds

Need some holiday money. Maybe New York State has some old unclaimed funds with your name on it. Maybe you left a job in 1990 and some retirement money didn't follow you. Maybe a class-action suit entitled you to some dough that never got to you. Maybe a deceased relative left you her safe-deposit box contents but they couldn't find you. Maybe a bank miscashed a check and couldn't find you to return the balance. Check Mr. Hevesi's Office of Unclaimed Funds. And hey, file a claim. Even if it's not yours, sometimes it's fun just to know somebody with your name has $79.43 he doesn't know about left over in that bank account he opened during his otherwise disastrous semester in Brockport back in 1983.

I checked and nothing for me, something like this happened to me about 4 years ago, the Laborors Union ( Loacal 79) I was in had the IRS contact me to tell me because I had left a few years ago they owed me money, I think it was the anuity I had paid into, it was for over 3 thousand....and was I happy...

Hard to believe that there's nobody anywhere in New York State named James Richards who has money owed to him. I mean it's not as though I had a name like Harriet Miers.

Some lawyer called me recently to let me know that there was a pile of unclaimed cash with my name on it. Yes, it had my name on it but it was some other sharpie.
