National Weather Service wrote:
Today: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Patchy fog before 2pm. High near 58. South wind between 14 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Rain forecast for tomorrow, too. The Diamondbacks, I assume, don't come back to New York again this year, so there will be pressure to get the games in. Monday is an off-day for the Mets, but the Diamondbacks will be back in Phoenix to host the Phils.

Two-out rallies are cool things.

They're never interrupted by sacrifices either.

But turning around and giving things back, and bouncing balls in the dirt against the opposing pitcher. That's not cool.

Reyes bunted - it was the wrong move - and it worked out well
Murphy didn't - it was the right move - and it came up to bite us

2-3-4 hitters coming up. The first and third batters are lefties.

Stick with Beato? Switch to Byrdak? Run to Isringhausen? Fly to Rodriguez?

Tough call. You don't want to put the go-ahead on base, but you don't want to pitch to that guy. I guess they let Isringhausen choose.

The D'Backs definitely brought their bloop bats today. What's that, about four of them now?

Small but plugged-in crowd today. More sustained spontaneous LGM chants than I can remember hearing at a Citi game. Even the climate was temperate-- 60ish with light breezes-- after the rain stopped.

All in all, a nice afternoon, after the slop.

Promenade Club: When nowhere else will let you in. Should be its slogan. Waited out the rain delay at what's basically the Braniff Lounge, but it was perfectly fine. Guess it would rain until the dogs went home, but skies parted and it was a lovely enough day at Citi Field. Sat way out in right field, 403, accompanied by about twenty twentysomethings enjoying somebody's birthday which included not a flower cake but a flask of vodka. It was passed around enough so its impace on any one celebrant was diluted. Delighted in shouting at Enright that he's a MEDIOCRITY! even though my lingering rasp made me a mediocre heckler.

I would've left Beato in for the eighth, but who's complaining? Kid's outstanding.

Also fun? Congratulating Enright on his successful holding of Reyes at first (he threw over roughly 40 times) after JoseX4 made it to third on Wright's single, then chanting "B-P, B-P, B-P" at the Barry in the third.

(I may have had a beer or two during the rain delay.)

I would've left Beato in for the eighth, but who's complaining? Kid's outstanding.

We were in RF, field-level, just a couple of rows back from the ballboy (hooray for depressed prices on the 'Hub!). We could see the downward bite on the kid's offspeed stuff from where we sat. Good God, he's good.

Having now sampled all of the clubs Citi Field has to offer, excepting the actual sit down and eat portions, I can say with some certainty. "eh".

Yeah, here's another vote for leaving in the Beato Farmer. Im all for using Beato and Izzy on alternated goes, if it can be effected.
