Happy Ikeversary

One year ago today, Ike Davis was called up, and the Mets more or less shut down Jacobs 2.0.
The doubles are pretty nice. Pretty surprising to see the sheer volume of games he's gotten into. He's made ten errors, and gets to more than the average firstbaseman's share of ballage on defense. His simliarities aren't exactly mind-blowing, but neither are they anonymous.
I'd take most of those careers. And I'd probably take the average career among them. There's a lot of big bad black guys in there --- White, Colbert, Mayberry --- but Travis Lee seems like a similar animal, a giant serious kinda handsome, kinda dorky white guy with a kinda black guy's name.

Because Bagwell's in there, I'll take the average among 'em.

Trivia question - what number was Ike wearing during his Major League debut?

Ah, yes. RBI single into center, right?

Other things going on at the time.
I don't want to say it's early, because there's just been so much terrible play, but a lot was left to happen to the Mets at this point last year, including a mad but brief charge into first. So keep watching. Change never stops. And excitement never stops. And hope never dies. See you at Shea!
