Look deep into my eyes, and tell me you haven't lost to worse!

Mets lineup vs. LA on Friday:

Wright-3B,
Beltran-RF,
Bay-LF,
Davis-1B,
Pridie-CF,
Thole-C,
Niese-LHP

Davis in front of Bay would suit me fine.

'specially since Davis-Pridie-Thole sets up the perfect spot for a lefty reliever to be brought in late in the game.

Yeah, but Pridie would typically be pulled in that situation.

Re: IGT 5/6: Contra Los Doyers

In favor of Hairston no doubt (or, worse yet, Hu) - neither one of which will exactly have Donnie Baseball quaking in his boots.

Re: IGT 5/6: Contra Los Doyers

Good thing the only lefty in the Dodgers bullpen is Hong-Chi Kuo, the 8th Inning Guy(TM), who may now have been promoted to Closer(TM).

Re: IGT 5/6: Contra Los Doyers

Under most normal circumstances, he'd probably be stepping in there. But by all indications, Padilla's holding the fort for now, as Kuo's just back from the DL, and more than a bit iffy yet, performance- and durability-wise.

First pitch tonight by Chris Cannizzaro who's dad was killed on 9/11, this from Rubin

"@AdamRubinESPN: Young Chris Cannizzaro is named after the former Mets catcher. The baseball card was placed in his incubator when he was a newborn, mom says"

Go Chris

Andre Ethier extends his streak to 30. It may not be too too long before ESPN starts following him.

Reyes looks like an azz with the fist pump after a triple.

Rod Barajas -- hard to be mad at that guy for doing what he does every May at Citi Field.

Throbbed.

I'd say that the guy who leaves it up and in to Barajas looks like a little more of an azz than a guy who's happy he hit a triple.

So true, Jose looked like he had the stink of an MFY for the moment.

Kevin Elster in the booth, asked about his late-career power surge. All but admitted, in a ha-ha manner, that he was enjoying the juice.

Pridie the Mets, a major motion picture starring Jason Pridie as the Iron Horse (featuring Angel Pagan as Wally Pipp).

Holy hell, is it Trachsel Tribute Night tonight? Catcher visits and pitching changes, and everyone but Niese on both sides has taken close to a minute between pitches.

A bit easier to take when they result in insure-runs, but still.

Re: IGT 5/6: Contra Los Doyers

Every time I think we need to try and find a better centerfield option, Pride comes up with a huge hit. I guess I should think that way more often?

Muffy with the pretty play.

This game's got a little of everything now. (Including, apparently, a pointless Frankie appearance.)

Here comes Frankie. Get the antacid ready.

Not even the White-Jerrying with the pitching moves ruined the fun of Reyes' O and Pridie's play.

Re: IGT 5/6: Contra Los Doyers

I can deal with opposing teams fans, and even the obnoxious ones. But the stupid ones? Drives me nuts.

Dodger fans sitting behind us cheering loudly at every ball or strike; I choose my spots, such as making a crack about Loney needing that much luck to get a hit when his grounder up the middle struck the second base bag and caromed away from Jose. Fan proceeds to tell me how Loney is a great player, good for "15-20 homers, .290 a year*, AND that he's "the best defensive first baseman in the league." I suggest otherwise, citing Pujols and Davis; he dismisses this as impossible.

Best part was him ripping on Jason Pridie right before the homer. As soon as it goes out I start celebrating as if I've won the Powerball. Good times.

*(I also was pretty sure Loney had never hit 20 homers in a season (he's never even topped 15) but AT&T has awful signal at the ballpark and checking baseball reference on an iPhone was not possible at the time)

Ed has had several very serious health problems since his baseball days. I wasn't expecting him to be in the best of shape.

How'd you like Elster though? Mornings = gym, afternoons = beach. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Re: IGT 5/6: Contra Los Doyers

Fat Ed Hearn - yup, noticed it too, even more alarming than very old looking, bald George Foster.

Stupid fans - was sitting next to a guy and we were talking Mets. He's telling me all the games he's been to and how many different places he's sat at Citi and I'm thinking 'okay, I can talk Mets with this guy, he must know his stuff.'. Then he starts going off in the 1st when a ball drops in in front of Pridie, screaming 'C'mon Angel, you gotta charge in on those!'. Really? Pagan's been on the DL for almost 2 weeks now guy. That's when I checked out on him and started talking with the guy to my right.

The guy on my right was fine, chit-chat here and there. He was more concerned with his girlfriend and beer than he was with me which was fine, because I had my boy and his friends with me anyway. Then, top 9, guy leans over to me and says, 'damn, Niese is looking alright tonight!'. Dude, Niese has been in the dugout for an hour. Oh, well.

This is why you should surround yourself with CPFers at these events. Insulation from the rabble. Well, the other rabble.
