Friday the 13th in Hu'ston IGT

Feeling good today as Gee opposes Bud Norris. I missed the 'stros visit to NYC last month on vacation, so as far as I'm concerned I think we can go out there and take them lightly. LGM, YGB yyy, bbb

Today, the team with more Jasons should win.

Odds are 3:1 that R.A. Dickey shows up to the park today looking like Jason.

I'm sure it's nothing to do with numbers and more likely Collins has a gut feeling about it.

It's in case Turner sucks and they have to double-switch Thole to second base.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 13 2011 01:50 PM Re: Friday the 13th in Hu'ston IGT |
If nothing else, Pridie's proving himself ultracapable at covering ground in CF; that said, Farty gets a starty at some point this weekend, I have to believe.

my problem with calling up Martinez is him riding the pine , if you commit to calling him up then play him every night, a start here and there seems pointless.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 13 2011 06:37 PM Re: Friday the 13th in Hu'ston IGT |
As buoying as the tightrope-walking was in the bottom of the second, I'm getting a sinking feeling that our boys missed out on a rare chance to do some MAJOR damage in that first. Norris seems to be settling in.

Beltran missed making it a 2-run lead by an inch or two inside on the bat handle; that dub was struck with violence.

When guys pitching for the Long Island Ducks get touched for runs by the likes of Bill Hall and Chris Johnson, those Ducks get gone.

yeah. that was..odd. Diving stop, no one covering so Murphy outraces Bourne to first, then Hall tries to score from third, thrown out. 3u-2 on the dp.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 13 2011 07:53 PM Re: Friday the 13th in Hu'ston IGT |
It didn't seem like one play... more like three stages, or something. Thanks be for creative baserunning/Astros third-base coach Dave Clark.

Very nice win - especially after things looked lifeless for about 6 innings there - and maybe the start to a nice weekend.
|
Edgy DC May 13 2011 09:21 PM Re: Friday the 13th in Hu'ston IGT |
The Mets behind until the eighth, but managed to play a full game without Harris, Hairston, or Byrdak entering the field. Not to beat up on those guys, but it's sweet to get a whiff of some future.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 13 2011 09:27 PM Re: Friday the 13th in Hu'ston IGT |
Yeah I was about to resign myself to another stretch of the offense-less Mets. Hafta say, whoever posted that video of Fartinez going deep the other day, that swing was definitely on mind when he got up there to hit and so I believed it could happen.

Nothing like a little power surge to put things right. All three guys needed it, too.

Yeah that was me. I am not a fan of posts labeling him the world's oldest 22-year-old or such (you know who you is). He may never be Willie Mays or Carlos Beltran, but I think he still has a good chance to be Bobby Abreu. I'd take me a little John Milner. Or maybe Shin-Soo Choo with a designated driver. I'm a fan.

Side note: as Towles gave Fulchino the sign for an off-speed pitch on 2-2 to Wright in the 8th, Keith blurted, "Changeup? You have GOT to be kidding." 2 seconds later, the ball's got a Crawford Box seat.

Gwreck May 14 2011 01:34 PM Re: Friday the 13th in Hu'ston IGT |
This IGT cannot be complete without coverage of the fan who ran on the field and completed an amazing, spiderman-esque escape from security.
