IGT Phillies @ Mets 5/27/11

I finally finished the Citi Field Beer List just in time for this home stand. I'll be in attendence tonight. Meeting someone there who's going to be later so I'll probably be in McFaddens until almost game time. My Citi Field Beer List does not include the beers at McFaddens.

We miss Halladay on this Holliday weekend. Also Lee. Tonight is Oswalt and Capuano. Pagan will be in the lineup. Nick Evans will be on the bench under Harry Potter's invisibility cloak.

Ommegang Hennepin at the ballgame?

Saison and a hot dog? That just doesn't seem quite right.

The Hennepin is actually only within the Delta Sky 360 club. So you can have it with the panko breaded hot dog bites?

I usually try for the Sixpoint Sweet Action, which is also only in that club. Otherwise I'll probably either go with the Blue Point Toasted Lager or Goose Island Wheat.

And on cue, Harris winces and limps down to first base.

Not so fast F-Mart....

Re: IGT Phillies @ Mets 5/27/11

And Capuano could have grounded out just as easily as Harris.
On the other hand, Beato shuts 'em down for an inning and now we've got Oswalt out of the game (not that those are connected points)

It's been a while and he may have forgotten.

If you're pitchin' to Ben Fran-Cisco
be sure some fastball knocks him on his ass
cuz if you're pitchin' to Ben Fran-Cisco
the tying run must die on the base paths

Don't mind me, I'm losing it here

Same.

Assuming a modicum of effectiveness from Beato, et. al., you're not immediately fucked. Where you're fucked is if the game stretches into extras. THEY'RE lined up to have their strongest still up ahead, while we've shot two big bullets unnecessarily.

The odd missed "I got it" notwithstanding, their defense has been quietly vexing tonight.

Well part of that problem is that Terry also pulled Beato quickly.
I know it's all about "roles" and such but he threw like 10 pitches going 1-2-3 and the pitchers spot in the order was 9 spots away still.
And this isn't a second guess on account of Izzy giving up the run (which Pedro might have done also) but now we're down two 'top shelf' relievers in a tie game when we could have used none or one at this point.

Yup. He's made a lot of mistakes and little mis-cues out there over the last few weeks.

And I'm not blaming this on Terry's bullpen managing because this inning could have happened to anyone (Frankie's essentially given up five ground balls* and gotten ZERO outs from them) but I just hate the concept of making changes just to make them as if someone (Beato in this case) can't go a second inning because that inning "belongs" to someone else.

And a waste of genetic material in left field.

They can, but more often than not they're handing winnable games back to the opposition.

I usually try to go out of my way to get a special beer before the game. I try to rush if I want anything during the game, food/drink etc. Although the stadium is excellent for providing views and tvs and radio/tv feeds for viewing and listening around the place, so that helps.

Yeah, I know. I'm kind of hoping he helps the team find a voice of it's own. Coaxes it out of them, as it were.

Re: IGT Phillies @ Mets 5/27/11

Oh, agreed. I half blame Dickey's injury on Fred. He starts off the mound, paulses as if he sees no point to hustling to first, thinking the first baseman isn't going for the play, realizes he's wrong, slaps himself on the rear, realizing he has to hustle, does an awkward re-start mid-stride, and collapses.

That looked like a demoralized man.
