It looks like a beautiful day in New York, everybody is off for the holiday and tomorrow is a school day so everything is lined up for a 1:10 start.

It's a billion degrees here in DC. What's it like in New York?

Rained overnight, overcast just over the bridge on Jersey. I wish they played all holliday games during the day. What's more appropriate than a BBQ with the radio broadcast of the game in the background? I imagine they've done polls that suggest more people watch the games when they're at night though.

Yeah, the rain cooled things down a bit. Had to engage the AC last night!

The anti-American Phillies in Washington at 1. Win 1 (3?) for the Nation, Nats! (at home against Washington? I've already forgotten.)

Why is the Miami Herald previewing the Mets Pirates series?

The ROY was instituted the year after the remarkable rookiehood of Ralph Kiner. I like to think of Ralphers as an honorary Rookie of the Year. The last great rookie of white man's baseball. Steve Sax won one that might better have gone to Johnny Ray. You couldn't stop voters from voting for Dodgers in them days.

Del Ennis would object.

Those are the parameters of the bereavement list, even though it does sound like something the Mets doctors would come up with.
|
Fman99 May 30 2011 02:45 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Yay! It's on TV. I got screwed out of the last two Phillies games, thanks to Fox and Verizon.

Not exactly the starting nine we envisioned during ST, huh?

Actually, kinda looks like a spring training lineup. A spring training road lineup.

Get used to it. It's a close replica of the future lineup -- give or take Bay for Beltran.
|
bmfc1 May 30 2011 03:17 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Terry said that they want to give Bay a day off but he's being paid a zillion dollars, Reyes isn't there and he finally hit the ball hard twice in one game so it would be nice if he was playing today.
|
bmfc1 May 30 2011 04:04 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Parnell replaces Jose on the roster. Of course you add a RP to replace a SS. (Perhaps they wanted an extra RP in case RA has trouble tomorrow night.)

Edgy DC May 30 2011 05:12 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |

Willie Harris is not the Mets' thirdbaseman of the future. You heard it here first. A little downtime for Jose may be a good time to pitch some numbers at him and his agent.

I never get these caps, they are always horrible looking, the Pirates hats are worse.

These hats are available for sale--does MLB donate all profits to a military related charity? If not, they should.
|
Gwreck May 30 2011 05:58 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Yes, they donate all proceeds to the Welcome Back Veterans group.

And seriously, couldn't she have died yesterday so I could have picked up a replacement for my lineup for the week? I lost last week by eight points because Buster Posey is a wuss who can't keep his leg on straight.

Ashie62 May 30 2011 07:09 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
The two Liberty Belles on the right are doable.

He can't be back Wednesday because using the bereavement list means he has to be out a minimum of three days.
|
PiggiesTomatoes May 30 2011 07:16 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Liked the Liberty Belles and the JV infield is representing. Willie may not be 3B of the future but that was a damn good stop last inning.
|

Anybody hear that about Ike Davis? Coming back to NY for reexamination..not good.

Weird game so far. Mets have like a zillion hits and baserunners yet have only scored via three of the cheesiest runs in the history of the game.

OK, THOSE weren't cheesy runs !!

metsguyinmichigan May 30 2011 07:50 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Turner! I know it's way too early to even think about such things -- but are either Turner or Gee still eligible for the ROY this year? Or did they play too much last season?

Edgy DC May 30 2011 08:01 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
So, seventh inning, tying run on third, go-ahead on first. Did they play in? Back? Halfway? In at the corners and back up the middle?
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 30 2011 08:04 PM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Corners, IIRC-- but that may have been because they were sorta-holding the runners on there.

These fruits and I enjoyed tonight's game. Games against the Pirates cure all ills.

Let me preface this by saying I was only really half watching because was at my parents and such, but I believe this is the play that Harris made the diving stop on and got the out at second with the tying run scoring on the FC? yeah, corners were in. Don't know elsewhere.
|
Edgy DC May 31 2011 07:13 AM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
I'm thinking seventh inning against the Pirates, I play back. Better team or later inning, I maybe get more aggressive.

sharpie May 31 2011 07:21 AM Re: IGT 05/30/11-Pirates @ Mets |
Went to the game last night on Gwreck's tickets (thanks!) and it was mrs. sharpie's first time at CitiField.
