Mets Need to Indoctrinate Their Youngsters

I don't blame Justin Turner for this. I blame the organization for whom he plays.

While Turner had never heard of Swoboda, who had RBIs in six straight games in August 1965, Mets fans now most certainly have heard of Turner.

Long flights, time in hotel rooms, hours before games, off days -- why are there no seminars for these players on what really matters?

And, oh yeah, six weeks of Spring Training. What else were the Mets doing except optioning Turner to Triple-A?

Presumably teaching him to play baseball.

We could force the players to read your book.

To be fair Greg, I'm more troubled by Vince Coleman's attitude towards Jackie Robinson, than Justin Turner knowing a Met fan favorite who otherwise, except for Nawlins area where he is a broadcaster, in an obscure player from the 1960s who made a pretty sweet play in a World Series once.

I mean sure I'd be concerned if Turner was from this area, but I'm sure he'd know more from Mike Piazza, LA Dodger than Mike Piazza, NY Met.

Tongue. Cheek. About halfway, at any rate.

Copies of FAFIF, MBTN, Mets Fan and the 50th anniversary salute from Matt Silverman in each locker...good start.

Seaver is still pissed the the young Mets player(Reyes) that didn't know Tom Terrific when they met in an elevator at Shea all those years ago, not that Tom knew him either of course.
