I believe the last wrestling event at Shea was in the late 70s/early 80s...before Macho's run in the WWF.

Once, while he was matriculating at Herrick Junior High, a physical education teacher questioned whether any of the students could do 100 sit-ups without stopping. Randy exceeded 1,000. Not a bright thing to do when one of your kids is the son of a world sit-up champion.

I didn't care about wrestling now or then. I do care about cultural insanity and the people behind it. I mean, getting rich by saying "ooooh-yeaahhhh!!" What the hell? And sit-ups. Sit-ups mean a lot to me.

I was always fascinated by the psychology of pro-wrestling, particularly after reading this quote from the French philosopher, Roland Barthes: "The virtue of wrestling is that it is a spectacle of excess.
