IGT 6/7/11 Mets! Brewers! The Thriller at Miller!

Benjamin Grimm

Let's see if I can take my IGT winning streak to three games.

Homecoming in Milwaukee for Chris Capuano. Brewers send some dude named Shaun Marcum, who has never faced the Mets, to the mound.

OTOH, Bay returns to the lineup. Good think Miller Park is where he turned his 2011 around and stopped being Nosaj Yab.

Which is what he's been ever since becoming a Met: the opposite of Jason Bay.

Works for me.

Although he's played in 132 game as a Met. I wonder if he's just aiming for one 'full' season of sucking and then will turn things around. Or maybe waiting for a 9RBI outburst against teh Yankees like Delgado?

In every half inning the pitcher gets to two outs, lets a runner or two on, and strands 'em.

Every half inning so far (or virtually every half inning so far).

Re: IGT 6/7/11 Mets! Brewers! The Thriller at Miller!

Thanks to everyone who followed on Twitter last night. Admittedly, I'm not a very good tweeter.

The game was hot, hot, hot! The temperature while tailgating got up to 102 degrees. It was still 95 according to my phone at game time. We had great seats, but also the most obnoxious drunk sitting next to me at field level. By the third time he spilt beer on me (1.5 innings in), we moved to higher ground looking for a breeze.

I would have really enjoyed the low scoring pitcher's duel watching the game at home on my computer...but with the heat, the game was really rather tough to watch until the Fielder HR in the 6th. Obviously, the Metly scoring in the 7th was awesome and watching the bullpen hold the one run lead was great.

There were very few Mets fans at the game. The paid attendance was around 27,000, IIRC. I'm on a 3 game winning streak for in-person Mets games I've attended. I'll look to continue that on Thursday. Hopefully, we're going for the sweep rather than the rubber game.

That booth must have had AC. The record-setting heat was the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's lead story this morning.

It's supposed to be hot again today, but tomorrow, high temps are supposed to fall by 30 degrees and rain is supposed to fall.

Re: IGT 6/7/11 Mets! Brewers! The Thriller at Miller!

Didn't Damion Easley once hit an inside the park HR at Miller Field by hitting virtually the same spot on the outfield wall where Reyes' triple landed?

I was mightily impressed with Justin Turner's first inning walk. With two strikes, Turner fouled off four pitches, and appeared to eventually wear down the opposing pitcher. It seemed to me that Turner purposely softened his swing with the express intention of fouling off pitcher's pitches that weren't hittable with the good part of the bat, yet too close too take with two strikes.

Twas a good at-bat. Marcum also pitched a passively effective game, seeming to prefer allowing walks to hits.

Yeah, he was a 2010 Met yesterday. He seemed to pitch around the whole lineup and I'm glad we had just enough offense to catch up to him. That shit shouldn't fly.

Def a nice AB after Reyes had popped out on the first pitch (time to trade the mental midget obviously).
That AB (and a few others like it) plus Marcum's aforementioned passive aversion to hits helped drive him out after six innings despite pitching 2-hit ball at the time. That got us into their bullpen which in turn got us to the win.
