OOTS : We're All Dodgers Fans Tonight

Ceetar

Because they're playing the stupid Phillies.

Marlins and Braves.

Also the Sox visit the Yankees in the Bronx. supposedly the season starts tonight or something. nothing else matters. it was all a dress rehersal, blah blah blah. Lester versus Garcia. I have to drive to LI from NJ and hope everyone's at the game by 7:30 when I'm passing by.

Or you could just go to the game. It's not sold out. These are $100, which is ridiculous but not when you compare it to the rest of the place.

This game is on MLB Network , it's small of me but listening to Leiter's super enthusiasm on YES makes me want to hurl, couple that with Kay and O"Neill and you have a booth that if I were invited into I would jump out the window, Garcia got tagged for three runs in the first.

Teixera helped off the field, Kay just said. Anyone see what happened?

Totally off topic but 2010 NL ROY Contender Tyler Colvin of the Cubs is now 7 for 81 with 22 k's. Thats bad, very bad.

Teixeira was shot in the leg by a sawx fan.

Posada pinch runs. Yankees scratch out a run (Jeter grounded softly to third to start) with the help of two HBP.

Phillies load the bases, score one to tie but Dodgers limit the damage.

Atl-FLa tied. I"m inclined to root for Florida, but really, neither.

Dodgers rally to score 3 more in the top 3rd after the great escape. Still batting. It's that Oswalt guy.

Took a Lester pitch off the kneecap.

Now 4-1 both in the Bronx and in Philly

Jeter with a cheap hit.
Now needs 13 to reach 3K and do you supposed there's any type of mandate to get him there on this 10-game homestand?

Dodgers beat Phils 6-2

Braves get two-hit by some Marlins pitcher named Hand (Spicoli's friend?) but win 1-0 behind Tommy Hansen and 3 relievers.

BoSox 6-3 over the Yanx in a quick (for them) 3:23
That's 7 of 8 for the Bostonians this season.

Nationals in SF scoreless in the 2nd.

So they beat them.
OK, but all things considered, I was rooting for the meteor.

Part two.

Kuroda vs. Hamels.

Lowe vs. Nolasco.

A.J. Burnett vs. Wakefield.

Noesi, the starter turned reliever who was hanging out in thebullpen for the Yankees sent down for someone I've never heard of after 6ip in relief of Freddy Garcia. Joba strains his flexor muscle, DL'd fora while. haven't seen a call up, think it must've just happened. Luis Ayala moves up one spot in the Yankees bullpen depth.

Girardi apparently pissed at Papi's bat-flip following his HR last night.
Hijinx (and over-wrought ESPN analysis) to follow.

Nats lose this afternoon in late innings to Cain in SF
Their (Washington's) bullpen which carried them for a while is faltering recently. They tied it at 1-1 on an Ankiel 2B in the 8th but then gave that run plus one more right back.

I guess Papi's first inning HR indicates Burnett failed to hit the target. Boston up 4 zip already, batting in 2nd

Marlins & Braves tied 2-2 in the 10th.

Braves go on to win it in the 10th.
That's 7 losses in a row for Florida, and 10 of their last 12.
Soon to be just 1.5 games ahead of your New York Mets.

And the Sox hold on to win 11-6

Tonight's game took 3:22, virtually the same time as last night which also matches the average game between those teams. 2:50 is MLB average for everyone else.

Re: OOTS : We're All Dodgers Fans Tonight

- Braves hand Florida their 8th straight loss and another 1-run loss, this time 3-2.

- Phils switch to hosting the Cubs.
Long rain delay but they're back playing in the 8th, 3-1 Phils ... oops, now 3-2

- A Granderson HR in the 1st has the Yanx up 2-0 in the 2nd, also after a loooooooong rain delay.
Sabathia & Beckett

- Washington down 2-1 in the 4th in Sandy Eggo

Re: OOTS : We're All Dodgers Fans Tonight

Stupid Marlins can't win a game when I want them to. Bleh. Wanted them to take the Braves down a peg, but hey, maybe it means Braves will be hitting a slump when we show up.

Cubs are crap, just don't get the hits to win do they? you're supposed to beat the 5th starter (6th) before having to face Halladay lee and Oswalt. Stupid Cubs. Still got Madsen to beat..can they do it?

As for the Yankees, the whining (particularly from Sweeney Murti) about the not hitting Ortiz thing is getting annoying. Can't they just make it about the game? no? Even if they win, it was a pretty pathetic showing.

Umps underneath discussing whether 2nd HR counts or was interfered by a fan.
The area in CBP seems very unclear what's a HR

and the answer is .... they're putting him (Tyler Colvin) back at 2nd base.
Tie game then, one out, runner on 2nd.

Re: OOTS : We're All Dodgers Fans Tonight

You're telling me that was definitively interference? And that the RAILING is the HR-line? (Guh. Whither good design.)

The original call was a HR. If they can't overturn it for sure, doesn't that stand?

Re: OOTS : We're All Dodgers Fans Tonight

They should change the rule re: fan interference. If it happens in your park, the visiting team gets the more favorable call. This should properly incentivize teams to correctly enforce a zero-tolerance rule for interfering with balls in play.

But the visiting team's fans are known to invade the home team's ballpark. This might encourage Phillie fans, for example, to purchase strategic seats at Citi Field.

cubs get the 4th run in the 11th.

That awesome Phillies lineup had one good swing, a 3-run home run by Rollins, and didn't score otherwise.

The rain delays in NY & Phil meant I was asleep before both games ended.
How nice it is then to wake up and read about Boston's "7-run seventh" and about the Phils losing it in the 11th after that questionable negated HR that would have lost it for them in regulation.

Re: OOTS : We're All Dodgers Fans Tonight

Yankees finally hit Ortiz in the 4th. You know, gotta make those hitters uncomfortable and all.

he came up next in the 7th and Singled to leadoff, and Doubled to drive in the last two runs.

Jeter was reportedly really happy they played. He didn't want to lose a home game to try to get to 3000.

He didn't get a hit. reached once on a fielding error by Cameron (which was a fastball down the middle, which accounts for being able to hit it as far as RF)

Re: OOTS : We're All Dodgers Fans Tonight

He actually did get a hit late in the game; 10 to go before the world celebration begins (7 more games on the homestand).

Looks like the Yanx' bullpen mess caused Girardi to stick with big CC in a vain attempt to get through that 7th inning. 1 out, 6 hits, and 4 runs later he was finally yanked for Robertson ... who promptly gave up two hits and three more runs.

Of course, his "problem" that the Mets have is the vesting option. I don't like any idea that treats the Mets season as a waste of time and like they aren't, and shouldn't, try to compete. I don't think he even suggests anything the Mets would want back. Just to get rid of him.
