IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2011 07:36 AM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 16 2011 07:03 PM |
The Braves, as it turns out, became an [u:6xb1p6y5]over .500 team as a franchise[/u:6xb1p6y5] with their Sunday night win at Houston - and did so for the first time since 1923!!

Tonight is the Mets last game against an NL East opponent until July 15th.
|
Ceetar Jun 16 2011 10:30 AM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |

I did actually have an idea. You know that if the Phillies continue this winning pace, in 35 or so years they'll reach that .500 mark?
|
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2011 11:32 AM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |

Grrrrrrrrr
The Mets will need a similar winning pace and nearly as long a run.
|
metirish Jun 16 2011 11:38 AM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |

I thought that sounded too much , Angels, A's, Rangers, Tigers,MFY's.........then the Dodgers on July 4th. ah , you mean NL East opponent....Phillies in July 15th.

Pagan benched for having the temerity to hit a home run last night.

Was commenting on the original thought not having an NL opponent for nearly a month (turns out to be just no NL East opponents).
|
Ceetar Jun 16 2011 01:48 PM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |
|||
more like half. (actually closer to a third) of all the original NL teams, the Phillies are the whipping boy. I believe they're the only one significantly under .500. before 2010 they were the 26th worst franchise by total record.
|
Ceetar Jun 16 2011 01:52 PM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |
The Mets won't play a NL team at home until July 15th. The last game they played against an NL opponent at home was 6/4. That's quite a stretch.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2011 01:54 PM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |
But hey, we get the Angels, right. Oh boy.

Ceetar Jun 16 2011 02:01 PM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |

The Marlins are absolute trash. I mean, they won't always play _this_ badly. They'll rebound to hold down 4th place, but geeze.

I had posted a couple of days ago that Hairston's numbers had climbed up to respectability while nobody was looking. His OPS for the year is probably over .800 with the homer.

Primary blame goes to the Cuntbunter for using K-Rod LAST NIGHT with a 4-run lead in the 9th. Using him 3 days in a row is generally not such a great idea.

But do give up late leads, otherwise we'd have swept both those guys in their parks. Not a bad week, just a frustrating one in many respects. One game each in Milw, Pitt & Atl were not just coulda won games but were shoulda won.
|
TransMonk Jun 17 2011 08:13 AM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |
Really, we were two bullpen meltdowns from having an 8-2 road trip with a sweep of both MIL and ATL.
|
soupcan Jun 17 2011 08:18 AM Re: IGT 6/16 - Mets v Braves |
You can woulda-coulda-shoulda yourselves to death if you want to, but if Wright and Davis are on the field maybe the Mets leads are bigger and they aren't coughed up.

gotta agree, this team could be 15 games under and people would say it was expected, Collins and his coaches are doing great.
