Jon Niese vs. another of those pitchers these Mets have not seen.

He could even go by one name.. UGALDO..

7-2 2.66 ERA 20-66 B/K

Agreed!

Look for us on the second level, in left field, just before the foul pole (still in foul territory) in the first row (unless we melt in the heat and retreat into one of the lounges).

The Mets at night
Were dull not bright
Deep in the Heart of Texas!

Now to shine in daytime...

Jose Reyes - SS
Willie Harris - DH
Carlos Beltran - RF
Daniel Murphy - 3B
Angel Pagan - CF
Lucas Duda - 1B
Josh Thole - C
Jason Pridie - LF
Ruben Tejada - 2B

Jonathon Niese - LHP

When Niese (here goes)
Leads by his nose
Deep in the Heart of Texas.

And Reyes races
'Round the bases
Deep in the Heart of Texas.

I'll bear the brunt
of Collins' bunt
Deep in the Heart of Texas.

I won't turn over in my grave
If K-Rod blows another save
Deep in the Heart of Texas.

But Jason Bay,
Oy Vey! Oy Bay!
I wish he were under
Flushing Bay.
Deep in the Heart of Texas.

first two on, you kinda get the feeling that this game could hinge right here..will the Mets be the failure to hit with RISP and only stringing singles together, or can Beltran drive one and they cruise to an easy win?

Washington played a ton of small-ball in the post-season last year too, so it's not like this is anything new.
I'd just like to personally thank him for continuing it today. Aside from a GiDP, nothing is better when you give up a leadoff hit right after taking a 3-run lead than knowing that their next batter is going to intentionally make an out.

Pat on the head for Beltre, who seems to be taking Edge's oblique insults to heart.

But playing "The Natural" theme for a home run that makes it 1-6? A bit grandiose, don'cha think?

Our Canadian doesn't seem to play well in 75-degree heat or even 50-degrees and chilly. The rest of the Mets broke out their wjhoopin' sticks today. Glad for the win, but wish they could have spread the offensive onslaught over 2-3 games.

Re: IGT 6/25/2011 Hook those Horns! Mets @ Rangers

This was a really fun game to attend.

We started out on the Lexus level, which is kind of analogous to the Excelsior, except we were in the sunshine. After broiling for an inning, we went up to the equivalent of the Promenade.

As the shade increased and temperatures cooled down, we went back to the Lexus level, except instead of our original seats D-Dad decided to see if we could sit behind home plate. The ushers didn't care, so we settled into the first row behind home plate. That's where Howie noticed D-Dad's Chapman 10 jersey. During the 7th inning stretch he inquired about it, so I went up to the area in front of the booth and discussed it with him. The rest of the game we got a bunch of messages from friends who heard the shout-out on the air.

Between all of that and the 14-5 win, we had a great time :)

Kelvin Chapman, Mets Opening Day Second Baseman as a 22-year-old, 1979; washed out, fought his way back from the minors to become Wally Backman's platoon partner in 1984 (successfully) and 1985 (less so). Wore No. 10 his first time with the Mets, which is the number on the jersey themetfairy describes, thus Howie Rose taking notice.

So there's your significance.
