The Byrdak Incident

The Byrdak Incident is not opening for the reunited Verve this summer, but is a confusion that occurred with Terry Collins bringing his situational lefty in without warming up last night. Tim Byrdak subsequently surrendered a two-run homer.

Terry took the blame (I doubt that he was, as G-FaFiF suggested) implicitly blaming Debus (Blaming Debus might also be a good band name), but if the Mets didn't win yesterday, this would've been a huge huge story. Conisdering Terry was forced to board his Beato-Izzy bridge to the ninth early last ninth, anybody paying attention to the Mets this year had to know he'd be looking to Byrdak in the eighth, particarularly if a lefty came up with a runner on base. Any lefty. If I'm Strat-o-Matic-ing, I announce that Byrdak is warming up as the seventh inning opens. This had to represent a big breakdown in communication. So what happened? Is the hitting festival getting people a little too loose during the game, and somebody got lazy?

Did Byrdak say anything to anyone before entering the game cold?

SNY showed him hanging out in there and then a commotion as he grabbed his glove while saying something to someone(coach), it was a WTF moment caught on film.

What did RnRC do to the hotlinked photo? Something bad I guess.

"Blaming Debus"... I like that name very much.

Thank you for taking away that picture.
