Not planning on watching the Home Run Derby, but for those who are, here's one to get the ball rolling:

Ooh, that looks like a home run.

I enjoy all these things, although I'd be perfectly happy if they compacted it to 60 minutes of just swinging.

It's a bit of fun, especially when the likes of Hamilton gets on a roll.

They've got some new technology going on this year, I forget what though.

They should have gotten Bryce Harper and Adam Dunn in here..

the yellow streak that shows the arc of the HR?, I guess that's it....FOX were using that ten years ago for NHL coverage...

Nice to see that Berman hasn't evolved.

Have the HRD on in the background. Every now and then I look up and notice a home run.

Can't beat the simplicity of this thing.

I watched most of it via the DVr, fastforwarding the crap inbetween. oddly, they only scheduled it for two hours, so I didn't quite catch up in time and missed 10-10:10. oops.

I could sit and watch guys hit home runs all day though.

Re: IHRDT: Swinging for the Fences in Phoenix

man...cano has some serious power. hate it that he's on the mfy's.... but serious power.

hopefully this exhibition screws up his swing the rest of the season... ahem.

but yeah... how do they pick what kids get to go catch the balls in the OF? I would love my kid(s) someday be one of them catching fly balls.

Re: IHRDT: Swinging for the Fences in Phoenix

Jeter gets his big milestone, Cano wins the Derby. Pretty obvious that the Yankees have shot their load for the season. No A-Rod and they've got like a bazillion makeup games still coming.

OK, I'll be the first to say it, "Jeter staying away made Cano better".

To be fair, Jeter staying away makes the entire All-Star Game better.

Just being around Jeter for years gave Cano the strength to beat everyone else.

Cano won the HR Derby? Crap. Why don't we just give Teixiera the MVP right now to save time?

What happened in Texas was a tragedy. This fucking dickhead should be thrown off the upper deck.

Plaid shorts are for douches.

Sometimes I really hate people. "Fans" like this are going to ruin it for everyone. Soon we'll all be watching baseball games behind big plexiglass walls.

I'm pretty sure --- and I say so with nothing but respect for my shutterbug friends --- that the real douche is Telephoto Johnny on the right.

Re: IHRDT: Swinging for the Fences in Phoenix

I have plaid shorts. What I do not have is a propensity to stand on bars hanging over an abyss while trying to position myself to catch a baseball.

Re: IHRDT: Swinging for the Fences in Phoenix

I take it back. The plaid short comment was overly sterotypical. Plaid shorts and doucheyness are not mutually exclusive.

However, in my experience, there is no shortage of douches wearing plaid shorts.
