Don't get Murphy batting claeanup against a lefty.

On the other hand, Scott Hairston is in the three-hole, so...

everytime Niese pitches in a national broadcast, they have to mention that he was born in oct 27, 1986

Happy Hairston making Terry look good.

Not for nothing but it's a shame they couldn't have driven Hairy home there. They only had the 4-5-6 hitters to try it.

Great win for the good guys, first solid game in a while.

We're getting good at beating lefties.

Utterly awesome day at ballpark next to where Shea used to be, highlighted by Scott Hairston's Metamorphosis into an offensive badass and the tasteful pregame gathering at the Shea home plate marker to remember Dana Brand. There was some speaking, some reading, some RC Cola and a several stalks of balloons (blue and orange, natch) launched into the Flushing sky. One of them obviously blinded Ryan Howard in the first inning. Good day to be a Mets fan.

Tip of the hat to Collins, whose Terry-rigged lineup cards I should know better than to doubt. Wow! The mighty neck of Scott Hairston delivers.

Re: IGT 07/16/11: Phillies @ Mets

Hairston remind anyone a bit of Xavier Nady?
Decent though hardly great RH bat that, while nothing special defensively, is versatile enough to make him useful to have around. All of which is packed into a (maybe) 6-foot body that's power-lifter strong and capable of producing second-deck HRs.
