Other than that walkoff homer, I don;t think he's accomplished anything so far this year.

he had a pretty good two week stretch or so when he came off the DL, but tailed off again after that. Roughly when Reyes went down, but that's likely unrelated.

Re: IGT July 25 Mets at Reds

And again, Duda sits against the righty. He was starting to get warm, which is more than I can say for Bay. I don't see how Turner has earned the right to start over him, either. We still haven't determined if Murphy is our second baseman of the future, which I think is an important goal for the rest of the season. If we can keep sending Thole out to catch Dickey, we can try Duda at first and Murphy at second.

You seem to be some sort of 'experiment for next year' strategy, which isn't where the Mets are at.

Good inning there. nice to see.

Reds radio announcers still call their team the Redlegs? Is it still the McCarthy era in Cincy?

It's where they should be. When Beltran leaves, Duda needs to be playing every day, even if it's at Bay's expense.

not quite.

but I agree at this point it's Duda that I'd like to see get some more OF time (or Evans, but we know that's not happening)

Tying run up in the person of Votto after Parnell walks Lewis.

Hagin already talking like the lead has been blown.

Wherever they are in the standings, a Mets win is fantastic. (Some are better than others, but all are good.)

Re: IGT July 25 Mets at Reds

Hope the season never ends.

I don't really think that was related to some Rodriguez, so much. He got two bad breaks on batted balls, and then he pitched around the guy he wanted nothing to do with.

The wages of relief pitching is stress.

not that Rodriguez didn't have his fair share of bad breaks.

Re: IGT July 25 Mets at Reds

Wayne drove me nuts with that Bruce call as well. On the other hand, I missed him and Howie when my batteries died on my run while Parnell was pitching. I was able to get 5 or 10 seconds of game by turning the radio on before the batteries died again, and I did that over and over for 4 miles until Izzy got the last out a few blocks from the end.

What a piece of work Muffy is.

Re: IGT July 25 Mets at Reds

It's like he's still a graceless freak over there, but he never gives up on anything, and certainly doesn't give up on himself --- even after others (coughJerrycough) have. It's like he's living in the ongoing afterglow of a spirited pep talk from Gary Carter.

But man, crushes a double and gets thrown out at 3rd; delivers a big hit in the decisive rally but nearly gives it away with an inexplicable cutoff.

He's an adventure!

Re: IGT July 25 Mets at Reds

I look forward to a world when he's stealing time from people instead of having to pick up after a disaster, which is where the majority of his MLB playing time has come --- picking up after injuries to Alou and Pagan in 2008, Delgado in 2009, and Evans in 2011, taking a moment to give back to the community by getting disastrously hurt himself in 2010. I fear this world, roamed night and day by Murphy the Supersub rather than Murphy the Misbegotten, exists not but in my head.

Re: IGT July 25 Mets at Reds

Kevin Mitchell didn't deck anyone, Gary Carter didn't pivot on a 3-5-4 and Jesse Orosco wasn't seen in the outfield, but that was a pretty darn good NYM @ CIN game.
