Obviously there are plenty not on this reel, but...

I wanna vote #3 but his blue sleeves under the black jersey are distracting. Who's the batter there? Looks like a Phillie.

Re: The Best of Rey

i voted 3 just because it seemed like the most 'sure' single.

That rolling play was cool, the 2b(Fonzie?) is croaching about to field it and here comes Rey just rolling through the zone.

I voted #7 because he had to make that throw through a lot of bodies who were in his line of sight.

Re: The Best of Rey

I liked number four. It seemed to embody his brand of: "I'm always in position to throw. I'm Rey Ordòñez.

My wife saw that reel and noted the dive in front of Fonzie.

"So, who was managing the Mets then?"

"Valentine, why?"

"I thought maybe Walter Matthau."

"What?"

"You know: 'I want you handling anything you can get to. This game is too important.' I figure after that, the other guy shunned him back in the dugout and wouldn't play catch with him the next day."

Rey Ordòñez = Kelly Leak.

Fans got down on Rey in the later years, but he brought much enjoyment.

It didn't help things when he called us all stupid.

Gotta be that love-at-first-sight throw from his knees.

I remember he did that, but it never bothered me much. Sometimes people pop off.

Yeah, but popping off doesn't generally win you any popularity contests.

Rey just didn't hit enough for me.

His offense was obviously affected by the large dimensions at Shea. Had he played in a fair park, he would have averaged 2 home runs per season.

He was already under seige at that point, suffering relentless, profane, unfair, and humilating abuse. The "fans got on" him period certainly precipitated the comment, rather than vice versa.

Oh yeah, put me down for the tumble and roll in front of Alfonzo.

Re: The Best of Rey

Rey was still around when Alomar was there?, was it that long ago?...Robbie was the recipient of the flip?

all great plays, I loved him from the moment I saw him , I had just become a Mets fan...I've told that before..
