Dillon Gee (thang) vs. Chien Mien Wang. May the force be with me/us/the Mets.

I arrive 15 minutes late to the opening pitch and we're already up 4-0?

Always thoughtful to let Alcoholics Anonymous know where Mets fans will be lest an early lead get away.

The Wanger didn't have it.

Wanger doesn't rhyme with Danger, but maybe it should.

Gee vs Wang a very Twitter-friendly matchup.

Two tack-ons even after Bay gets thrown out at the plate.

One of the MLB.TV commercials during the games lately is for Maybelline makeup. Seems like a bizarre demographic.

Gee not really throwing with the same authority as he did earlier in the season. Hard hot shot to Pagan and he gets out of the 6th. Something tells me he'll see the bottom of the 7th with his jacket on -- even in the heat.

Just got in from two days of camping/following along with the Wayne Hagin Medicine Show, when geography/weather allowed. Sweet stuff so far.

He's out there, at least for the moment. But yeah -- I can almost conceive of us making a run here but falling short not because of offense but of pitching depth. The weekend series with Florida pretty much told you that.

Is Bay allowed to hit doubles? I thought there was something in the bylaws about him sucking out loud at every moment while holding pine.

A hot summer night in DC. Lots of Mets fans--Citi Field South.

Edgy DC Jul 29 2011 09:57 PM Re: IGT July 29 Mets @ Nats Gm 1 |
Yeah, but maybe you didn't get this in your section, but I was surrounded by hundreds of Taiwanese passionately rooting on their hero, Chien-Ming Wang, or as their colorful and creative signs were proclaiming him, Chien-Ming ang. They stuck with him after he got hammered in the first and almost got hooked without recording an out, clapping enthusiastically and waving their Taianese flags proudly. God bless 'em.

Frayed Knot Jul 29 2011 10:31 PM Re: IGT July 29 Mets @ Nats Gm 1 |
Maybe it was because the IGT got started late, but I'm surprised no one mentioned the AWFUL base-running early on.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 29 2011 10:56 PM Re: IGT July 29 Mets @ Nats Gm 1 |
Yeah, I think mentioned above is the overarching worry this pitching staff isn't gonna be enough on the nites when such goofs can hurt us, or we just don't hit enough.
|
Ashie62 Jul 30 2011 04:24 AM Re: IGT July 29 Mets @ Nats Gm 1 |
Fman>> mission accomplished.

Edgy DC Jul 30 2011 08:35 AM Re: IGT July 29 Mets @ Nats Gm 1 |
Yeah, I felt like we should've had about six in the first. The baserunning gaffs compounding on each other deserves a toungelashing from Colins and/or Mookie. Or a tonguelashing from Collins of Mookie, but I think I'm setting Fman up a little to well with such visuals. Reminded me of the Emil Brown game, for which I was in a similar part of the ballpark. Except, of course, we kicked some ass.
